Will Nexus S 4G get 4.1?

If not officially, then we will get it for those of us that root. I doubt cyanogen would abandon us now! Give us CM10

I agree here to post the same question... Hahaha...

That will be cool if we do get jelly bean... But not holding my breath on it. ;)

They announced that the Nexus S will be getting Jelly Bean in mid-July, so there's no reason to think that the NS4G wouldn't, they're the same device minus the radio difference.

Demystifying Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

Great! When do I get it?

"The answer to that is multi-layered and fairly annoying. As usual, Google is just showing the OS on its Nexus devices, including the new Nexus 7 tablet. OEMs will get the code soon, and can then start fashioning updates — if they see fit. Most devices will be waiting several months at least, though.

Users of the Galaxy Nexus, Nexus S, and Motorola Xoom will get Jelly Bean updates in mid-July (that’s especially awesome for Nexus S owners). Google did not differentiate between the various flavors of the Galaxy Nexus or Nexus S, but I have to assume they mean to just update the unlocked GSM variants in July. The other devices will come later, but probably before non-Nexus phones.

There is a new Package Development Kit (PDK) for OEMs that should, in theory, make Android updates easier to build. The PDK was provided to top device makers before today’s event, and future PDKs will go out months in advance. There’s no way to know if this will make a real difference, but I can only hope. Maybe you’re going to be getting all this tasty Jelly Bean goodness sooner than expected."

We've already been through this with ICS: "no reason we wouldn't get it right away" arguments abounded...until we didn't. The radios are a fundamental difference and are apparently cause for major holdups.

Well since JB is a big update on ICS and not a HUGE update like from GB -> ICS, I'm sure the NS4G will get it, and maybe it will even be better optimized if we're lucky.

Yes we will get the update, it'll just take a while.

As I said in the previous thread, we're waiting on Sprint the whole way here. Our phone isn't a true Nexus device anymore after all.

Once it's finished in mid-July for Nexus S on T-Mobile and the OTA doesn't murder phones, they'll put it up on developer.android.com for all Nexus-branded devices (including the Nexus S 4G) and it'll be up to Sprint to get off their ass and give it to us.

Most likely we will get it, just going to be a while. Since it has NFC they will push it to Nexus S phones

Oh god... another wait. Didn't we JUST get ICS. blooodyyyyy. Things just started to calm down around here.

I love getting these back to back updates without having to dish out the hard cash. Only Google.... :D

No matter what our phones will get JB 4.1 if not a official I'll make a aosp version for our phones that can be flashed. I basically have 4.1 on our phones now just working out a few more bugs and then I'll throw up a thread with a link to download. If we do get a official ota it will take a little bit longer because we are cdma and have wimax and sprint doesn't like to just give there radio code out to everyone so we have to wait on them for a official.
