Will RCS be rolled out globally to Samsung's stock app?

Haha! Got news for you... The carriers formed CCMI so they could all be on the same page to monetize RCS. Businesses will be more likely to buy into it if it's universally deployed, so they can reach a wider audience. The carriers don't care about security. If they did, their individual implementations wouldn't be so crappy from a security standpoint.

You're correct that RCS leaves too much to the discretion of the carriers when it comes to security, but that's how the carriers like it. If it's too locked down, they can't mine it for data profiling to sell to advertisers.

There is SO much wrong in what you said. Especially since you have no evidence to back it up.

Not sure if they roll out world-wide. In most countries, carriers are against it as RCS is completely unencrypted

a) Many. Not most.
b) RCS does NOT have a built-in encryption. The carriers have to implement it.

That is part what Ry and I are arguing (discussing?).

Baby steps get this RCS full blown then encryption and any other enhancement.

Questions -
- Do any/some/most Carriers have RCS implemented such that anyone can make an RCS compliant app and it will work with everyone else as long as they are using some RCS compatible client?
- If someone makes an RCS client on Verizon, will it work with the same client on Sprint/AT&T/etc?
- If Samsung makes their client RCS compatible on Verizon will it work with people using Android messenger or Verizon Messages+ on Verizon, or do people have to be on the same client for RCS?

Basically, Im wondering if RCS features work cross-carrier AND cross-client, or are we not at that point yet and it's all just a mixed bag and pot luck?

So as I understand it, there are many flavors (or profiles) for RCS. And some have existed before Google's Chat profile. If the profiles don't match, then it falls back to SMS or MMS.

I was curious if Samsung Messages gets it, will I be able to send a message to someone using Google Messages? If not this whole thing is stupid and pointless. Same for what someone else asked... will RCS on Verizon Messages be able to send a message to someone using Sprint Messages app if they both end up supporting it?

Yes is the short answer. If a messaging app has Universal Profile RCS and is interconnected (all of which is the gaol), you will be able to enjoy the benefits of RCS in your scenarios.

The joint carrier program in the US that is scheduled to be rolled out this year I believe, is still not completely clear on all this, but should work the same.
