Will Samsung fix the screen brightness bug on the S6 Edge?

Download velis auto brightness from playstore and you're saved.

Thanks.. can you confirm this app will fix the s6 edge problem? If it works for you, what carrier do you have and pls confirm you have the s6 edge.... we shouldn't have to install some rando app to fix the brightness... I wonder if this app is a battery hog... any additional info will be greatly appreciated.

here is some info on the velis battery drain https://www.google.com/webhp?source...e=UTF-8#q=velis auto brightness battery drain

What Carrier is your phone on katmandoo122?

T Mobile, although I've seen other T Mobile customers complain. I don't think it's a Sprint issue if it is an issue at all.

And understand that for you, I agree it's an issue. Hopefully Sammy makes it right. However, if very few people are affected, it may not rise to the level of being an issue and the interwebs sometimes take a small number of people (say, less than .5%) and gives them an asymmetric voice. I have no idea what the number is of people have auto brightness issues...but I do know that people that AREN'T having the issue probably don't say it unless prompted.

Makes sense... it's weird maybe it's a small batch maybe not... but I can't find a Sprint model in the store that doesn't do it. And you're right, most people may have the issue and not even know it! Hopefully they come out with some fix soon. today's update did nothing. Battery life seems improved.

so good news guys, it seems to be fixed.

Unfortunately, the fix may not be an option for many. I flashed a rom meant for the tmobile S6, and paired it with a kernel meant for my Tmobile Edge. The problem seems to be gone... i wont know for sure until my girlfriend gets home and i test it side by side again, but atleast the sensor doesnt control the brightness once auto brightness is set to off anymore. And the phone is much brighter at max brightness than i remember it being, but again, ill check when the S6 comes to the house to compare.

Good news is it seems to be software related and our sensors arent borked.

Trevor... what does this all mean? I don't want to break the warranty on my device.. and never root/flash and don't plan on it... maybe since it got fixed you can def confirm it's software related? But if there isn't enough people affected, will Sammy even push out a fix? I thought with the recent Sprint update to 5.0.2 they would have corrected the problem but it still exists... I wish there was some other way we can fix it or at least have a workaround in the interim. Samsung responded to me saying there have NO REPORTS of this issue with the S6 edge and I am not buying it! I called and complained a week ago and that was a REPORT they didn't acknowledge. And I am sure others have contacted their carrier and Samsung to report the issue. I hope they fix this soon, it's driving me nuts!

Having same problem with my S6E on Rogers. What was the version number you received last night which solved the problem? I'll then call Rogers with this info.

i installed the leak 5.1.1 that tmobile released to a single person, and it did not fix the issue. Is there another 5.1.1 build going around that does?

I know this is an old thread, but I was hoping someone had a fix. I have a T-Mobile S6 edge, and a T-Mobile S6. Comparing screens is how I found this issue. At same 100% brightness with Auto off the S6 screen looks way brighter than the Edge. I also did the flashlight test and confirmed it. But here is a strange thing. When doing the flashlight test on the Edge the screen will go super bright (thinking its outdoors), but when it decreases on its own the brightness is fine, and looks exactly like my S6. But this only lasts until I turn off the screen, then back on. It then goes back to dull looking. So its showing 3 different brightness levels with Auto turned off when doing the flashlight test. I have 5.1.1 on both devices and the latest T-Mobile updates.
