will tab 4.7 get lollipop update?

As you can see it is almost mid Sept and still no updated for the Galaxy Tab 4.70 I got a email from someone who I don't trust said it will be in 1 to 3 months which would take it to next year I have no idea what Samsung is waiting for all other tablets have been updated to 5.0, 5.1. I seen on T-Mobile that the 3G LTE been release so what is the hold up for WiFi

October and still nothoing. It's obvious that Samsung has already made the build for it because it's being pushed to at least 2 carrier versions now so idk why they wouldn't push it to the WiFi one. Thee only thing I can think of is that the carriers paid Samsung off to give it to them first

Woke up this morning to see 5.1.1 on my Sprint Tab 4.

Galaxy Note 4 {Sprint 5.1.1}
3-day Power with a 9600mAh Extended Battery.

I've noticed the tablet in question on sale at a pretty steep discount. I think at least some large retailers beginning with a Giant W do not expect the update for Wifi models will ever come.

Or maybe they just have trouble selling something that has been around this long. I, however, will buy one tomorrow *IF* Samsung pushes the update for the Wifi model. So please post in this forum if they do -- it's hard for me to see the updates since I don't (yet) own the hardware.

Thanks.

..you can flash your Tab 4 to a barebones system that makes the Tab 4 lightning fast..

Can any of you share a direct link to a "barebones" version that I can download/install? I was hoping to get rid of all the pre-installed apps that I will never use so that the device will run better and have more space. Thanks in advance :)

Missenvy, I have not tested this ROM, but it seems to have an OK reputation. Note that it's Android 4.4.2 so you aren't bypassing the annoying wait for the Samsung devs to release 5.x for the Gal Tab 4.7.

[Sorry, I'm too junior to post proper links...]

If you're still interested, I'm using this one:
[ROM][STOCK][TEAM ACHERON]{T230/NU}[OD1] ACH… | Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 | XDA Forums

It's the only one that's being updated regularly. It's a deodexed rom, so theming it to your taste is easier to accomplish. I haven't themed mine, as I like the Trebuchet launcher as it is. You can use that, or Nova Launcher if you want to work with themes. Here's a shot of my Home screen using Acheron. Like all Tab 4 ROMs for the 7 inch screens it's on KitKat 4.4.2:

I'm also using a kernel that allows CPU overclocking. There's a version on xda that goes up to 1.482 GHz. Makes enough of a difference in watching video, and many 3D games will at least run decently... much better than running like molasses! Oh yes, here it is if anyone is interested. Works for me. Get a kernel monitoring app if you use it. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. : http://www.mediafire.com/download/ex22xvztb3m7ldy/4.0.zip

I used that one a few months ago. Worked okay, but I personally recommend Acheron. The dev for that is fairly prompt with replies to questions about his ROM.

I bought the Tab 4 7" wifi because it was slated to get the ******* Lollipop update. By the time we do get it, Marshmallow will be everywhere at this point. ******* Samsung.

We are still (31jan16) waiting for the update to Lollipop, which was promised six months ago for Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 7.0.
Is the problem in Samsung politics, laboratories, bloatware or in the Android itself ?
We already know that Google has made errors in Android so that it is hard to make small updates
It would be enough to get a patch to the infamous stupid 'feature', which prevents us to use our SD cards.

EDIT:
Seven months gone and no upgrade !
They have either forgot us, neglecting us or don't care a **** of customers !

I want to ge rid of the bloatware and get the access to my SD card.
Yes, I can read and write files on the SD, but the programs can not make that.

Forget Samsung on this count. Just root the thing and get something like Nextapp SD Fix. Must be politics but I can't waste my time waiting. I've got my tab 4 7 inch as good as I can run it with that, an oc kernel and custom rom, like the one I described earlier. Hell, I've already got a new phone (LG G Stylo on Virgin Mobile) and I want to upgrade it to Marshmallow but it seems to be buggy. For now I've rooted that while in Lollipop and have Apps2SD on it. Probably just the reality of being on a low end device. Be glad that you have root as an option, or save your $$ and get something new and better.

Same case with me. I just bought in an impulse. Realised only later that it has a marvell processor. Previously too had a bad experience with samsung galaxy grand prime 4g that had a marvell processor.

Can you share me links on what custom kernel that you are using that makes the device faster. Mine is slow as moth.
