Will the "Always On" feature for the S7 work with 3rd-party apps?

Yeah looks like third party apps don't work, the options are very limited. Here is a screenshot of the menu options:

FYI content 2 show only gives you 3 options Clock, Calendar and Image. That's it no settings.

There is really no reason it shouldn't work. Motorolas active display is the same idea, and for the last several years every app that i wanted it to show it did. Keep in mind i didnt use a bunch, but messenger, facebook, emails, things like that worked fine.

Sent with my white Note5 with nonremovable back and no SDcard!

We all might just have to use either AcDisplay or Dynamic Notifications on Google play... They're both essentially moto display and would work nearly as well (minus the ability to wave at your screen).

I have used them before and they weren't very reliable...

while i do agree that the options are very limited indeed, i'm pleased that they offer a very clean, simple, modern-looking analog clock.

i love simple clean analog clocks ;)

It's not a negative feature. But anyone expecting something anywhere close to what Motorola offers is going to be quite disappointed, in my opinion.

Agree, I've tried both AC display and dynamic notifications on my Note 5 and S6 and they were nowhere near as good as moto active display. Very inconsistent and always woke up my screen when I didn't ask it to. I'll definitely be pinging my Samsung contact about this issue with AOD.

This is our first Samsung phone we have always had HTC. I was wondering the same thing. I use Textra for texting and Business Calendar,. Am I not going to want to use the standard mail app that comes with the phone for my home tec pop 3 mail? Is K 9 good I've heard of it. My friend with the Note 5 loves Aqua Mail. Now I use the standard one on my HTC and use just gmail app for gmail. I also never had Motorola or no about there display. I have Sprint and have had all HTC's since the EVO. I never have used the texting app on my HTC's I always used Handcent for the longest time and now Textra which I love. I'm still gonna use it I guess but i'll try Samsungs 1st. But I'll be able to set Textra as default right and not get double notifications?

I also want this case and am wondering if it does third party apps too. This is from Samsungs website -----> The Samsung Galaxy S7 edge S-View Flip Cover, Clear protects your entire handset, including your screen, when it is not in use and is easily flipped open for full access to your device. When closed, the S-View Cover, Clear offers instant, full screen access to critical information, thanks to the Samsung ID chip. Press the power key to check the time, weather and other status items like missed calls and texts. Accept or reject incoming calls with just a swipe through the front folio. (It's similar to the dot view I have on my HTC)

Anyway me and my husband can't wait to get the 7 edge I am pre ordering at Best Buy tomorrow. Are upgrades just showed up March 1st

I'd be really disappointed if it didn't show notifications for non Samsung apps, eg I use textra for texting, and k9 mail. And a different calendar, etc. I might want to use outlook app if they ever get their act together.
