Will the CAT S41 get Oreo?

here is the CATsupport official reply to my query:
"In regard to your query, please be advised that the notifications and excessive vibrations were implemented by Android for Android 8. There aren't any ways to disable these entirely which we apologise for but we have brought this to the attention of our superiors who confirmed this was related to the Android.

We apologise for being unable to assist you on how to disable this."

I didn't get any information about AA problems so far.

Android Auto is also affected... it crashes and the phone reboots as the car try to connect.
Is there an easy way to roll back to nougat where everything was normal and useable?

to make AA work after Oreo update you have to do the following before starting AA on car:
1. enable developer settings on phone - this will make a new option called developer options to appear in settings menu under System
2. enter developer options and search for simulate secondary displays (should be none)
3. enter the option and choose 480p - this will make a small window to appear on your screen
4. start AA

after stopping AA, do steps 2 and 3 but in 3 choose none to make the small window dissappear

Huh, another catphone user! I have the S30 and to be honest I don't really like it. Yes, it's tough, yes you can get it pretty wet (5 metres allegedly) and it's certainly tough!
The bloody software is a watered down version of Marshmallow, the thing destroyed me media in my SD card, and you need a bloody app for even the most basic things.
I never managed to be able to play music on it... Cat ppl were not interested in any issues I had at all.... Not a happy customer

I have also problems with this new update to Android 8.0 on my S41.
Android auto doesnt works and also i can not make photos using Whatsappp.

I had send a lot of e-mails to cat support but they always answer with "we are working on it".

Its horrible that they dont make tests on the phone before send everybody the update. Also is horrible that we can not downgrade to version before....

Hi there, a new user here.
I've got my S41 a few months now, mostly happy with.

since I've updated to the 8.0 OS my rear camera (not sure about the front one, I don't take "selfies"!) has become incredibly slow: it can take up to 3 seconds to shoot a picture! :-O
A few things:
-the camera got a little slower focusing, when pressing the central button to shoot (or the Rh lower side button that has been assigned to) it then takes a couple of seconds for the phone to understand it has to shoot a picture (the focus was already done)
-this happens with the stock camera, as well as 3rd part apps (Open Camera, and MX Camera)
-this happens with or without using the shutter button on the display, "tap& shoot" on the display, or with the dedicate button. I have also de-activated the side button, to no avail
-I have cleared the cache of all the camera apps, it was very small for all of them
-I have also removed the 3rd part apps, using only the stock camera app. To no avail
-there has been another strange behaviour happening at the same time: when the "recent apps" button was assigned (for a long press, by using the ButtonMapper app) to the camera, after the update it seems that the camera cannot come up from the locked screen. Before it would only take a short press on the top Rh button to "wake" the screen, then with a long press on the assigned camera button I could get the camera to open bypassing the lock screen (any other action, like opening the last picture would still require to unlock the screen, and this is fine).

Has anyone experienced a similar issue?
thanks!

Andrea

Thanks for your help! It works!
Then It seems that the system have problems with automatic display switching/simulating/mirroring functions.

*Today I got an 500Mb+ update pack - but it not helped for normal functionality of AA ...
*Whatsapp works after app update from GPlay.
