Will the Note 4 get Marshmallow?

Fast forward 7 months, I did receive 5.1.1 on my Verizon note 4 and should get marshmallow in april.

On Verizon, we received 5.0.1 in April of last year. Then we were upgraded to 5.1.1 February of this year. If Marshmallow comes, it won't be until next year. By that time, i might already have a new phone.

The Sprint variant got 6.0.1 earlier this year but it has been a complete nightmare. The phone freezes almost constantly, reboots with no warning at completely random intervals, will boot into download (Odin) mode with a warning stating it could not do a normal boot, will bring up the "installing update" animation that sits on the screen for a few minutes then switches to the "No command" error when you try to access the boot menu. So far, neither Sprint nor Samsung has attempted to do anything about it.

I gave up on carrier supplied OTA with my Tab 2 in 2010 here in South Africa (vodacom) I have been updating from SamMobile using Odin. Preferred OS version either UK or German. The official Vodacom SA version for the Note 4 is 4.4.2. Happily running 6.0.1 since early February 16.

AT&T dashed my Marshmallow upgrade hopes again today! I received the August security update instead.

Its ridiculous that AT&T customers are treated like this. I have been with them for 15+ years, and this is how they treat their customers.. . Pathetic.. This might end my relationship with them.

Finally got Marshmallow on 3 in the UK on 19 August, installed perfectly 👍. Hopefully you guys will get the update soon too!

Obviously you're free to do whatever you want, but the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. Another carrier might put out upgrades faster than AT&T, but you'll suffer from a lack of coverage or a higher bill or whatever. There will be a trade off somewhere. Guess it just depends on what's most important to you because no company is perfect. In fact, they're all equally sucky imo and not one of them actually cares about their customers. They all treat customers about the same...like dookie. The lack of MM update so far sucks, but I seriously doubt that slow updates would ever be the driving force behind my choosing to find another cellphone provider. Only thing that will send me to another carrier is if I get equal or better treatment/service for less $$$. It's all about the Benjamins baby.

Wow, what took 3 so long? I'm surprised I got it much sooner despite mine being unlocked.

Same here. I'm also on Vodacom, first thing I do with every phone since my Nokia N80 back in 2006, is to debrand by flashing an unbranded FW.

With the Note 4 the German DBT FW is what I've stuck with. :)

My note 4 is on marshmallow, it's a verizon phone. Running 6.0.1 I just bought it so don't know whether it was an ota update or through some other method.

Marshmallow ARRIVED on MY Galaxy Note 4 from AT&T on December 19, 2016 ... We've been having trouble with the MicroCell that AT&T supplied to us since we live in an outlying neighborhood with poor cell tower coverage. Talking to the technician she recommended that we just begin using "WiFi Calling". We informed her that option was not available for my Galaxy Note 4. She said "Oh, that phone has an update available. Here let me push that to you."

I've been checking the software update regularly and have never received the notification that this phone had anything but security updates available. So I advise everyone on AT&T whose Note 4 has not yet upgraded to Android 6.0 Marshmallow to call in and pester the technicians to push the update to your Note 4's.

I had to double check dates on this thread. Not sure about other carriers, but Verizon released MM 6.0 for the Note 4 6 months ago. Be thankful you are still on lollipop.
BTW... Verizon sucks. (vowed to say that whenever I refer to them).

FWIW, absolutely no troubles here today... KOW... was able to shed a few more apps I never use. Now have the ability to take notes on the blank screens with the pen I used to never use ;~)

Will be checking for more new features in the morning. 6.0 is a nice surprise Christmas Gift from AT&T and Samsung, guessing their reaching backwards to older phones to help maintain loyalty after 'splodey Note 7 fiasco... ... ...

Sorry to hear MM isn't working for you Jay Sacks. My Note 4 is way better on MM, battery life improved and way smoother operation.

Also I don't get the Verizon bashing, they've never done me wrong, great service and their updates for the Note 4 have been faster than anyone except Sprint.
