I really would like to use the Nexus 4 without a case, but I don't want to drop it and bust up the screen or the back glass. Will the official bumper + front and back invisible screen protector save it from drops?
Im not sure that the bumper will help your nexus.
I ues it without case but always put it in the pouch. This pouch save my nexus many times.

I always wondered about using one of these leather pouches. I would like to use one too but I wouldn't want to have yo keep taking my phone out and putting it back in. It would be my luck that the moment I tool it out would be when I dropped it.

A bumper seems to work fine against cracks. The back still gets scratched up like crazy though. They seem to magically appear. Gorilla glass on the back would've been awesome.

From I have read, the back is gorilla glass also. I have had my N4 for just over 2 months in the oem bumper and don't have any scratches. Do you carry it in your pocket with other items? Did you peel the cellophane off of the back?

What kind of bumper do you have?

The back is NOT gorilla glass. The front is perfectly fine. Only the back is scratched up. I never put it in my pocket with anything else.

I have read articles that state it is a thin layer of gorilla glass fused to a layer of plastic and have also read articles that state it is not gorilla glass. If you have a good source, one way or the other, I would love to see it. In order for the back to get scratched, something has to be touching it. All you have to do is figure out what and when this is occurring and then take corrective action. For the record, I am very careful with my phone and baby it from being in contact with other objects. It has it's own dedicated pocket and I only lay it on smooth, flat surfaces.

In order for Gorilla Glass to get a scratch, you have to use some force. The screen is perfectly fine while the back has tons of minor scratches when I never once drop my phone. There are lots and lots of complains about it on this forum. Those are my sources.
