Will the Samsung Gear VR work with the S8?

Wondering if anyone knows if the Gear VR will work with the S8. I mean, I'm sure it will... but?

Yes the newer dark blue Gear VR headset comes with a USB C converter. It was designed so that future Galaxy phones could fit that headset. The old white VR headset will not work.

So the gear VR that we got with our S7s and have only been available for 1.5 years is already obsolete with new phones? Great! :-!
