Will there be a Nexus 5?

How has nobody mentioned that the Nexus number correlates to screen size. If they have a Nexus 5 it will only be because it would have a 5.x inch screen just like the Nexus 4, 7, & 10. My hope is that they update the 4 just like the did with the 7 and if they wanted to come out with a 5 alongside it, that'd be cool too. But, I don't think Google wants to make a 5.x inch phone.

The Nexus 4 is the 4th generation Nexus phone. The screen is 4.7"....my math says that's much closer to 5. If rumors hold up the next Nexus phone will have a 5.2" screen AND be the 5th Nexus phone. Now tell me, what do you think they'll call it? No guarantees, but using logic is a safe bet.

You probably won't notice a difference between 720p and 1080p unless you are looking at the phones side by side. I would suggest you visit a store and compare your Nexus 4 with a phone with a 1080p screen and judge for yourself.

The power consumption depends on how you use your phone and how big the battery is. (For example, I hear people who use the Droid Razr Maxx or the Note 2 never worry about their batteries because they hold a lot of power.) A lot of people hope Google will make improvements in battery life, but that also depends on their hardware partners, too.

I don't think anyone has a Moto X right now except tech journalists. A 720p screen is probably fine on a smaller handset like the Moto X, but again, you'll need to judge for yourself in person. Your own eyes are better than anyone's opinion on what looks good.

The hardware efficiency is greatly improving in each genereation (not to mention software optimization). The screens, SoC, modems, etc etc. become more energy efficient at my higher resolutions or faster processing speeds than what came before them. I amazed at how often this very important fact is glazed over in battery discussions. How do you think the 2013 N7 gets much better battery life with much more powerful internals and a smaller battery than its predicessor?

I think the next nexus would most likely be 5 inches screen. But which company is going to have the chance this year I would like to sony give it a try.

#1 Way better camera - I never pull out the nexus 4 phone for special moments. The s....ist camera ever hands down.. including front camera also.... Its always so sad ..

#2 Decent speakers please , its beyond sad.. Considering all other phones..
#3 Keep the phone thin.. It can be done.. The average person likes a cool looking phone.. The other company has already mastered my above request.. But I am a Google man

+10000000000000 someone who makes real sense... what would it be next Nexus 6 and then the one after that Nexus 7???

call it Nexus 4 II or Nexus 4 2013

Can't we take that cue from the Nexus 7 that just came out? It's again called the Nexus 7. The Nexus 10 this winter is called the Nexus 10. Perhaps we could deduce Nexus 4 for the Nexus 4 refresh as well... unless it actually is 5 inches (I'm doubting this rumor until Google says it or supply chains leak it), then Nexus 5 sounds about right. Given that they just released the Moto X at the same 4.7" though, I'd bank on 4.7". That seems to be the size they love. GNex was 4.65, N4 was 4.7, Moto X 4.7.

No. They don't. Apparently you didn't know that. Nexus devices receive immediate updates; GE devices were not updated immediately. Besides, a device receiving a prompt update does not make it a Nexus device. There's a reason the One and S4 are"Google Edition" devices and not referred to as Nexus devices.

The Nexus 4 is actually called the Nexus 4... You can't just tack on numbers to the One and GS4 and call them Nexus devices. That's entirely incorrect.

Ask yourself this, instead: what is the successor to the Nexus 7 named?

The nexus 4 was the only nexus phone to have a digit in it's title. Why wouldn't the next phone just be called the Moto Nexus or the LG Nexus G?

I think the next Nexus (if there is one) will be called the Nexus 5 because it'll hopefully have a five inch screen, and 5 comes right after 4.

They won't do that because what will they do when the 7th nexus phone happens? There's already a nexus 7.

Google changed it up and all nexus model have numbers now. There's no reason to believe that the next nexus will be a 5, especially given that the nexus 7 did not have a name change with the latest generation.
