Will USB 3 charge the Galaxy S5 faster than USB 2?

I bought usb 3.0 is it worth it or no
I charge my phone with it I can't tell if it is faster than 2.0?

Id say YES, mine charges really quickly, alot faster than my iPhone 5 did.

My phone charges much faster with USB 3.0. it's almost twice the speed of my old S4. If it doesn't you may not have a real USB 3.0 charging system. Many from Amazon and the like are fakes.

Mine is original 3.0 usb from samsung OEM I use it same s5 adapter
And i see 2.0 faster than 3.0 do I need another adapter ?

My USB 3.0 cable definitely charges my phone faster than the regular cable. I have a regular cable at work that is plugged into the computer and it takes way longer to charge than my 3.0 and wall adapter that I have at home.

And i see 2.0 faster than 3.0 do I need another adapter ?

Either your adapter isn't pushing enough power or it's faulty. Either way, you're going to need a new high(er)-output adapter. 2.4amps should be suffice.

Don't know lol but I don't count that's why I see them same maybe because I use my phone while charging

I use my phone during charging also, but it really shouldn't make a difference. I had a 3rd party system from Amazon and before it burnt up (smoke and all) it acted the same way. If it's faulty it will damage the phone.

2.0 and 3.0 will charge at the same speed.

The reason it charges quicker than your S4 or your iPhone is because of the power adapter.

3.0 has faster data transfer, not charging speed.

• charging from usb2 port with usb3 cable [usb2 mode default]
• charging from usb3 port with usb3 cable [usb2 mode default]
• charging from usb3 port with usb3 cable [usb3 mode which exits after 10min]

by default when connecting to usb3 with genuine usb3 cable it goes to usb2 date transfer mode, but does it charge as fast as in usb3 mode?
and does it charge faster than with usb2 cable or usb2 port?

Nowhere I find a clear answer to this..

From an electrical standpoint.

USB ports up to 2.0 deliver 5 volts at 0.5 Amps (2.5 Watts).

USB 3.0 ports deliver 5 volts and 0.9 Amps (4.5 Watts)

Samsung OEM charger is 5.2 volts and 2.4 Amps (12.5 Watts)

So a USB 2.0 port will be about 4 times as long to charge your S5. A USB 3.0 port will be 2.7x as slow just because they do not provide as many watts of charging power.

Ive done some testing.
So far I was able to charge my s5 with a good quality non samsung 2amp ac charger with a good cable at about 1.7 or 1.8 amps. The same as the 2 amp samsung charger with or without its oem cable.
USB 3.0 is faster at transferring DATA not power. I have a little usb amp/volt meter to check the numbers. If fact in some cases the oem cable can charge slower than aftermarket.
I have a dell optiplex 7010 that can put out 1.5 amps to its usb 2 and 3 ports and my meter shows that using the oem cable it is limiting current to < .5A because it is using the other wires to allow data connection but if I use a Charging only cable the s5 can charge from the PC port at > 1 Amp.
So basically everything mentioned here is dependent on nearly every part you are using. If you really want to know if you are charging you need to get a $10 usb meter. Its the only way to be sure. And you need to try every combination of parts. It can be very hard to tell at what rate your phone is charging.
Generally charging from AC is faster but its very dependent on what charger or port and cable. And this shows that many PC's with the right cable can charge much faster than the default .5 Amps.

Thanks for the common sense answer. The "brick" or adapter is the actual determining factor of total available power. I read that a schematic shows only the pins in the USB 2.0 section of the plug provide the actual AC charging voltage/current.

This is true, 2.0 & 3.0 are data speeds.
Charging has Nothing to do with data. As long as your brick & cable can deliver 2100 mA to the phone it will charge at its fastest rate (from 25% to 100% in 90 mikes (minutes) ).

Its 15% to 100% in 90 mikes not 25% to 100% as I originally stated

I think the only difference from 2.0 and 3.0 is the data transfer speed, not charging speed.
