Will we ever get Oreo?

The Note 8 is fast. ...and it is smooth. IME, the S9+ is even faster and smoother. I notice it whenever I use my S9+. It's just lightning quick. It's faster than I need it to be. At this point it's pure decadence... for me. I've applied all my old Android performance trix (I've been at this for more than 6 years), maybe we're at the point where I no longer need to?
Samsung has made a good progress in making its experience faster and smoother. It started with the S8 and is improved further along the lines. Gone are the days where folks called 'Sammy, the laggy', at least for their flagship Galaxy and Note lines.

How are they comparing? one important feature is left out for me, the ability to assign a different message tone to contacts, can't believe they left this simple feature out, still on the fence about installing Oreo when it arrives for this reason.

I haven't thoroughly tested it yet as I haven't had time to do complete personalised setup yet, still using my other Note 8 on Nougat but I'll play around with it at the weekend.
mine is the unbranded exynos version though so a few things could be different to a snapdragon carrier version if that's what you have

Mine is also an unbranded exynos handset so it should be the same setup, still only O2 has it officially on the UK up to now, it would be interesting to hear their experiences.

did you make sure to have the custom/personal tone you want to use saved in internal memory?

For messages?

for any tune/tone, I couldn't set individual ringtones unless the were saved in internal memory, if trying to use one from sd card it would just default to stock, just thought it could be the same with messages

Yeah I had to put the personalised message tones into the internal storage/notifications folder to be able to choose and set them from the contacts app.

Finally got the Oreo update on my Vodacom Note8.

Biggest change?! The version number! This was totally worth the moaning and groaning about when the update was to come. Like OMG.
