Will We See Gingerbread?

I think we will see it for the Fascinate after today's announcement. I will be looking forward to what the devs here do with it, should be great if the Community ROM is any indication.

Yeah, I cannot wait to see what the Community will do with GB for the Fascinate!

I think I received Gingerbread, but my phone was rooted.

Overnight my phone got bricked, which I can assume came from an attempted Gingerbread update. I got my phone launch day so I figured I'd be one of the first to get it. I tried flashing CWM with no luck so I went ahead and flashed DI01package3.tar.tar which I believe unrooted it. I tried downloading ROM Manager and Root Explorer and neither seemed to work. I went then to About Phone to check for a new update and nothing showed up. It said Please Wait... for awhile, but then nothing happened. Will the update just try again by itself? Or do I need to keep "checking new" manually for it to show up?

Edit: When I go to status it says Server Unavailable, code 500. What does that mean? (I'm connected to Wifi)

You have to turn off WiFi as it only updates via OTA.

There isn't a GB update going out yet, and probably won't be for months, but if you hadn't updated to 2.2 yet, that is most likey what it was

Thank you for clearing that up, I got a little over-excited. Now I'm sad. Oh well.
