Probably not. I'm a keyboard man. I had the HTC Hero (Hong Kong version). I really, really prefer a physical keyboard.

My ideal unit [insert Beavis & Butthead reference here]... a Droid/Milestone 2 -ish device via Google Nexus line.

Samsung is a deal breaker for me. Got burnt with the Samsung Moment, no more Samsungs for me. I love my EVO!!

Well if this was an HTC slider, the disfunctional sliding mechanism would be considered a "feature" for one handed use.

I have never owned a Samsung product worth a damn, I've owned quite a few, and I don't foresee me going back to them. Anyone who is butthurt by my opinion, too effin bad.

Opinions are like as....well, you know.

By the time January is here, Samsung and Motorola might be announcing their next big device, there have been numerous leaks, one of em might be true... I doubt there will be a Nexus S on every carrier though. You have options though, so it's good to just relax and let them all do a little dance, rate em from one to ten, and choose it.

Yeah, I was bummed for a while there that I can't upgrade yet, but as time has gone by and I've seen leaks for what is supposed to come out around that time, I consider myself lucky. It means hanging on to my BB for a while longer, but I can deal with it.

Nope. Perfectly happy with my Droid 2. Samsung has yet to match the quality build of this phone.

I don't know why anyone would bring samsung's update record or the moment into this. If this is a nexus branded device samsung will only make the hardware google will be in charge of the os updates which is a great thing. And if you want to talk about horrible support for a device look no further than the x10 which wont see froyo and is just now getting eclaire. But remember the x10 is on par with the n1 as far as specs go

I will never buy another Samsung product until they prove that they can update software in a reasonable time frame.

My Epic on 2.1 is still wanting 2.2 let alone 2.3.

Samsung is not in charge of software in this case, Google is. If it is a pure Google experience (like it is Rumored to be) then you will get updates before anyone even has an announcement

I would get a Nexus phone only if it had all 3 of the following things:

1) Availablity on Verizon
2) LTE capability
3) It was made by Motorola

Samsung spanks google.....tells them your crap is an S series.....please folks, is google stupid?

I don't follow.
Going through posts he's made in other threads, it seems he has an issue with the phone being called the Nexus *S*.

To which I have four responses:

  • Eric Schmidt said there wouldn't be a Nexus Two. So, there won't be. :p
  • Why not? It denotes, in my view quite tastefully the manufacturer of the phone, especially when you consider that this second Nexus is being made by a different one than the first.
  • Back to the first point: I'm not sure whether this was noticed by bloggers or mentioned during Eric Schmidt's interview at the Web 2.0 Summit, but an S looks alot like a 2, if you flip it horizontally. ;)
  • He mentioned TouchWiz in one post; which makes absolutely no sense to me considering that the one thing we know for sure is that it's running vanilla Android. Furthermore, that'd be as ridiculous as the Nexus One (as in, the Google branded Nexus One, not the Desire/Incredible phones) running HTC Sense as default.
