Will you buy the Note 8 without a fingerprint sensor under the screen?

Ain't going to bother me a bit where they put the fps. Back or front I don't care. I'm most likely going to buy the note 8 regardless.

I was fully reimbursed for both note 7s and for about $200 worth of accessories. I wasn't screwed. I was pissed off but the only loser was Samsung. They don't "owe" me anything for the note 8. I believe they've got it wrong for the 8 specs but will wait & see reality and then I'll give my verdict with my $....or not. Suggest you do the same.

Blah, blah blah. At the end of the day it comes down to this... Apple is going to eat Samsung's lunch. Samsung could just as easily have bought that smaller company. You gotta make the right moves at the right times. Simply stated, Samsung got beaten to the punch again.

FPS embedded in the screen is not a deciding factor for a majority of people looking for a new phone. Most likely not even a thought. For me my number one factor is it's NOT an iPhone and I go from there. The S8 has multiple ways of unlocking and frankly after owning an S7E, the S8 FPS is light years ahead. It's take maybe 24 hours to get use to the back placement and after that you wonder why this wasn't done before.

Embedded fps would be nice if it works well. fps in back is a deal breaker for me - can't use when phone is lying on a surface.

I'm not "trying" to do anything other than point out that it's disheartening that Samsung could allow Apple to beat it to the punch with a functionality as important as this. They both have essentially unlimited R&D budgets and there's no reason that Samsung couldn't have sorted this out by now.

Yeah I'm kind of with the other poster on this one. Your obsession with Apple beating Samsung over introducing the embedded scanner. Your ridiculous idea that the Note 8 will tank if it doesn't have this feature. Just remember how iPhones have sold without Amoled displays, fast charging, wireless charging and other technologies.

And chewing Samsung up for not being able to yet develop the embedded scanner. Ok, but Samsung have developed a generally well regarded iris scanner-a very high piece of technology that iPhone 8 still won't have.

The FPS on the back is not a deal breaker... but I just want to see a pic first. If the phone is going to be a tad bigger proportionally and they raise the FPS any higher than it is on the S8+ and on top of that move the FPS to the far right... that could be an awkward hold.

If Apple does get the under glass sensor right on the i8, it will suck all the air out of the room for the competition. It would probably lock up phone of the year.

I switched to LG when it was time to update from my S5. The whole note battery thing, glass backs and non removable batteries of the newest Samsung phones told me time to try something new.
My G5 has the fps on the back, its done well comes to the left or right index finger very well when you pick up the device. Its also the power button. It is below the cameras far enough that I dont touch the lens by accident. The S8 I seen it was next to the back camera, in a less desirable spot.

I agree with you except for this. The iris scanner is a technology in search of a use. Literally no one uses this. The ergonomics are awful. Believe me when I tell you that I detest apple. I'm just pointing out that Samsung needs to elevate its game. And as long as I'm complaining (lol) let me point out that Samsung routinely screws the USA by giving us the mediocre Snapdragon chipset while the rest of the world gets the vastly superior Exynos chip. Not fair and yes, it annoys me.

Supposedly Apples 3D facial recognition scanner is more advanced than Samsungs 2D method in that it will include an infrared transmitting module and infrared receiving module with its forward facing FaceTime camera to do its facial recognition and modeling which may include iris features.

I think Samsung will slaughter itself, if it continues to raise price with every new phones (which is already as expensive as iphone) but no new stuff to show for. Samsung is no Apple, no matter how much it leads the Android pack.
