When i went to stock gingerbread yes. after no.

I used Xionia to install Kravens and this ics rom

I think only WIFI and phone calls are working on ICS as far as data goes. After that its probably hit and miss.

Then you did something wrong. My guess is a radio mismatch.

As for text messaging, I need more info. There is no logical reason why some folks are able to text after upgrading directly from CM7 to CM9.

The only information I can give you is when ICS first booted up, it said Android is Upgrading (or something to that effect) with a black background and it updated 67 components/applications/god-knows-what-i-saw. I guess if you ask me for something specific, I can help some more.

I have radio now after downloading the full IHO if kravens then flashing cm9 over and now i have phone/radio/ and possibly texting. i cannot however set up my google account to get my contacts.

EDIT: i can recieve texts just not send. says message will send when service is available.

If you need any help testing let me know.

Well it seems I was right, but wrong... I can say that Jerry was right, and after that text I couldnt get any more. But my guess is that these people are actually coming from a sprint cm7 to sprint cm9, as I was coming from a VM cm7 to sprint cm9.

Now this gets me thinking: what if my solutions could work on a sprint phone?

If somebody with a sprint phone please open their build.prop from /system and change
ro.telephony.ril=LGEQualcommRIL
To
ro.telephony.ril=QualcommNoSimReadyRIL
and try calling/texting both ways, that would be awesome :)

Cm9 does do a backup of system settings in the install scripting if you don't wipe the system. Eventually you will only need to flash gapps once.

Idk if it's smart enough to compare and choose files to get radio and ril working when upgrading cm7.

How exactly do I open this file and from where? I'm sorry, super n00b here but I'm willing to try. I'm not that dull, just no clue where to find this. xD

EDIT: Nevermind, I know where it is. Problem is, I don't have a working market to download a file manager. =(

EDIT: there is no ro.telephony.ril but there is ro.telephony.ril_class which i changed and it didnt work for outgoing text. out bound calls work and inbound calls work.

I use root explorer, but I purchased it and pulled it to my SD card, but I've heard es file explorer is just as good. I'm not saying that you should illegally get root explorer, but it would most likely get you the best results.
My recommendation would be to pull build.prop from the ROM and edit it with notepad++ on your computer. If you want to, I'll make the edit for you.

I've used both, root explorer is great, but ES is free and seems to work just as well, and interface feels better imo. Also comes with a bunch of apps built in like zip viewer, and other media apps. Can't beat that :p

I definitely plan to flash over from hydro to this, as I've really wanted a taste of ICS. But since it's my everyday phone, I'll be waiting till the data/radio issues are resolved :/

Okay. Download this: http://www.mediafire.com/?afi9gkidppfzadr

And replace it with the regular one (delete old one and paste it in)
After so, you will need to change the permissions (hold down on the file and choose change permissions) to rw-r--r--
(Or if you get a check box, do this (x is check and - isn't)
X X -
X - -
X - -

Note: if you're using es file explorer, your going to have to go into settings and enable root explorer.
Then, once you put in the new build.prop, you going to long press it, go down to properties, and select change. Then do the check box I did above.

Then after all that, of course, reboot ;)

TO ALL OPTIMUS V USERS:

Please stop cluttering this thead with requests for the OV. It will be next to impossible to determine which posts are referring to the OS and which refer to the OV.

I understand there isn't alot of info posted in our forums yet, but please be patient. We could release a similar build for the OV, but it's kind of pointless till we have at least the ril working.

Please post all questions about the Optimus V in the appropriate forum, and BE PATIENT! ;)

Thanks for clarifying. Its indicated that wi fi works but later states that data does not. I'm assuming that means 3G now. Great work! Flashing in just a moment...

Had to revert to CM7 due to no market. Tried several different apk's none work. (FC) Too bad really. I'll continue to watch for a market fix.

No cell use, so everything else seemed to work.

try this gapps. xda-developers - View Single Post - [UNOFFICIAL][DEV/GEEKS-ONLY] Cyanogenmod 9 (Android 4.0.3)[BETA2] I'd make sure you have enough room on the system partition. Delete some stuff you don't use or not working yet in the system folder

I used this version and all I get is Gmail. YouTube doesn't play videos and Market doesn't install. Found a 3.4.4 apk that works until you want to download something. XD

At this point, I guess just wait until drew irons stuff out. This is all a good start. :-)
