Wiping the cache without Rooting ROM?

Just did the Nookie SD thing. Found that I'm getting the forced restarts. Saw a potential solution is to flush the cache.

I found these instructions.

Another thing you can do, if your nook is rooted, is to wipe the cache and dalvik cache:

- Remove the nookie SD and boot into the stock ROM

- On the stock ROM, install ROM Manager (market, free), then choose "flash Clockwork Mod Recovery".

- Then boot into recovery, choose wipe cache.
- Then, under Advanced, choose wipe dalvik cache.

- Now boot back into nookie, and you just may see a big speed boost!

However, it looks like the internal ROM needs to be rooted. Any way around this? Can run ROM Manager on the SD Nookie?
