wireless android auto

Was in my car tonight and noticed my Kenwood 9905s receiver had the Android Aluto icon illuminated. My Verizon Note 8 phone was in my pocket, not plugged in. That's the first time I've seen it connect wirelessly. I selected the icon on the receiver and after a brief delay Android Auto did come up and seemed to work without a hitch.

I have not installed the beta version of Google Play Services, as some have suggested is necessary. My phone is on Android 9, at the current Verizon release. I had the receiver installed in January, and have installed one firmware update from Kenwood. Still, I was unable to connect wirelessly until today. And I didn't have to do anything to make it work, it just started working. Maybe Play Services is out of beta? It would be nice if all of this wasn't a secret. Good luck to all of you - hopefully your connections will suddenly work too.
