Wireless Charging Qi Pad question.

I am having that exact problem as well. Phone starts charging, wake up in the morning, phone has stopped charging, light flashing orange and is at 72% charge and discharging! I thought it was the pad or the back or the cable so got a complete replacement, the problem still exists.

There is no way this can be right, if it is what is the point of wireless charging, you should be able to safely leave your device on this pad and pick it up with 100% charge. Not sure what to do now?

Oh, PS I already have Battery Doctor running...... and this is the genuine Samsung kit!

I have the official Samsung charging back, and the Samsung mini charger. Mine works great now.
The first day was at 100% in the morning and dead before dinner, the second day I started getting clean sweep and battery doctor notifications about apps that have never been a problem before and that I know were not running. I deleted battery doctor and clean sweep, and now no problems with the charging or battery life.
Phone is at 100% in the morning and lasts all day. Not sure about the green/orange light because I put electrical tape over mine. Too bright next to the bed.

I am posting some info from a different thread in case it helps solve the problem with the Samsung device when using Qi wireless charging.

I was charging my Droid Turbo exclusively with wireless Qi charging (it comes with Qi built in) and started noticing very rapid battery loss after taking it off the charging stand. This seemed to get worse over the weeks until it go to the point that it would discharge at over 1% per second! While idling in my hand, I could literally watch it drop from 100% to 1% in a few minutes.

At first I thought I had fried my battery. But it turned out that the Qi charging somehow got the battery level sensing out of whack, and it just needed to be recalibrated.

To do this, it was suggested to complete a "Clear Cache Partition", then power off the phone and plug it directly into a charging cable (not Qi charging, but directly into the charging port) and let the phone charge to 100% while turned off, and let it keep charging while powered off for an extra 30 minutes to several hours. This resets the phone's battery level monitoring.

I tried this and the problem instantly went away. I haven't gotten back into repeated Qi charging yet, so don't know if the problem is cured permanently or will gradually start back up again.

Also, some phone users with Qi did not report the problem, so it may vary with chargers or charging patterns. Not sure if this will help, but if you are having charging problems or battery life issues, maybe resetting it per the above procedure will cure it.

I would be interested in hearing if it helps or not. I am thinking it may not be a Droid Turbo issue as much as a Qi wireless charging issue that might effect lots of phones over time. I see lots of similar problems being posted in other device threads.

Thanks and good luck!

I have the same problem (Galaxy S6, Samsung Wireless Charger, Samsung Clear Case) and did some research this morning. After charging fully, and putting the phone on the charger again it quickly goes from blue to green, and then after a few minutes would stop charging completely. I tried moving the phone and centring it more carefully, and discovered it stays on trickle if it is well placed (and in my case aligned in landscape to the charge, rather than in portrait).

Looking at the QI specs (which I cannot share a link to as I have not posted enough), it shows that the charger and the phone communicate using a wireless protocol, and the phone tells the charger how much power to send. My theory is that when the charger goes to trickle charge, the power is too low if the phone is not perfectly aligned, and the phone thinks the charger is no longer there.

To find the specs, Google for "Wireless Electricity Transmission qi consortium" and you should see a link that starts with "How it works". If someone is able to post the link that would be great.

I have solved this issue but it will involve a
Slight modification of the pad.
First get a heavier gauge cabe and choose the shortest length possible for you needs. Next remove the rubber pad from the bottom to expose the 4 screws holding the unittogether. Remove screw and pry the top black pad that the phone rests from the rest of the assembly. Inside you will see the induction coIL. Use a piece of plastic the thickness of a credit card cut the size of the coil and place it under the coil to raise it up closer to the top of device. Reassemble everything and you should be good to go. Remember you need a 2 amp charger or better to use this pad. Hope this helps. It solved my issues.

Yeah it's definitely the trickle mode that's causing the problem.

Another thing to pay attention to is the apps that your phone is running when it's in the trickle mode. Again because the power it receives from the charger is so low, if you have too many apps running in the background draining battery, it'll eat away the already low input and cause your phone to think it's actually not charging.

I'd just quit all my apps when I go to bed, phone screen on and off in the middle of the night is the worst.
