"Wireless Display" Option

What does "Wireless Display" do? If not used, is there benefit to turning this Settings option "off" (battery savings, security, etc)?

It's for Miracast.

I've had it off and on for some time and can't tell the difference for battery. It's not like Bluetooth, where turning it off actually turns a hardware off. Wireless display is part of the WiFi chip, so this chip isn't actually turned off.
