Wireless tether successful, but no internet?

using HTC Aria. Was able to use unrevoked, have the Superuser Permission icon in program list. Used the version of HTC sync to sideload wireless_tether_2_0_7. apk. Able to wireless tether to my laptop and an ipod touch. However, both devices tell me "no internet connection". I am able to use internet on the phone, and have access when I use pda to connect with usb. I obviously have a setting wrong somewhere. What should my settings and access contol be on the wireless tether so my devices can have internet access?

Is your laptop, etc. getting an IP address? Can you ping other clients as well as your gateway ip?

I'm trying to get the wireless tether to work on my rooted NS4G and just can't get the internet -- no IP address comes up on my PC either. I'd appreciate any ideas.
