Wireless tethering problems

I have been tethering since I Rooted my Dinc almost 2 years ago. Was tethering just fine on my Rezound........right up until I Ran the Leaked .10 ICS RUU. I've read on XDA about settings and found that many of the tethering apps don't work because they don't have the right settings you can change. So I was able to get wifi tether (looks just like Wireless tether) and it has the setting where you can set it as a galaxy Nexus. I had success with this in the car ride down to the Outer banks with our Ipad, but while on vacation, the Wifi in the rental house sucked real bad, and since I had such a strong VZW signal, I decided to tether with my phone. Unfortunately, my computer would connect to the Rezound, but under the wifi bar on my computer it kept giving me a warning that while I was connected, there was no internet connection. I was never able to get the ipad to connect after that.

Tethering is my #1 reason for rooting. Any help on what's wrong with tethering? Any chance it could be the leaked ICS? Just grabbing at straws right now.

Yes tethering on the rezound can be difficult. You did see the thread on xda? Make sure you uninstall all cases if the app and install the experimental 3.2.1 pre 1 tether apk. Also I have heard people have problems with wireless tether working on stock firmware.

I know it works on various roms. Conrom for sure. Some settings that worked for me were using the rezound profile, netd, routing fix, and encryption. Hope that helps.

No I did not get the experimental version. I will try that. Thanks for the link. I never had a problem till ICS......Then again, I don't really tether my computer, it's usually for the iPad.

Make sure you save the profile as galaxy Nexus AND check the routing fix box. It will be fine after that

Yeah man, I've done all that. Tried adhoc with no security, tried Netd. Nothing. My computer sees it, it connects but in the wifi bar on my Mac air has an exclamation point and says no internet connection.

I got the WiFi Tether app to work using the following settings:

Within WiFi Tether go into the Setting option by way of pressing the Menu button.

1 - Choose "Change Device-Profile" and change the profile to ?Generic ICS?.

2 - Make sure there is a check mark next to "WiFi-driver reload".

3 - Make sure there is a check mark next to "Routing fix".

Enjoy.

NOTE: I literally just got done flashing the latest ICS OTA on a rooted, unlocked, S-OFF Rezound. I was pissed for a short time that wireless tethering wasn't working until I found the necessary articles.

I got it working. The XDA thread with the APK worked. It has its own setting for the Rezound and it's been working great.

Have you tried using apps that require data while tethering? Mine kicks me off tether when I do that.
