With a heavy heart, I say goodbye "D1"

I had Verizon ship me a new Droid because my power button broke. I joked with the associate in the store that they should send me a Droid2, but she said they couldn't.

Today fedex showed up on my doorstep with a Droid2 in-hand. Looks like VZW loves me afterall.

better check your bill, lol.. might have PAID for that D2. :p

Called Monday at 3pm about an issue with my D1. This is the 2nd replacement that I have had since I bought the D1 in Nov.

Told the rep that I really liked the D1 but it was getting a little discouraging having to rebuild it a 3rd time now. He put me on hold for about a minute, came back and said Mr. DERacing, I am going to go ahead and send you out a D2 as a replacement and Im going to send it out over night. Gave him my work address... It was in my hands at 9:07am the following morning!! The Tech (Bob) was awesome and I felt really went above and beyond to take care of me.

And I would have been happy with the D1 again! Bad thing is now I have to get a new car mount... But thats OK!

LOVE the D2!

Well, my second Droid replacement arrived a few days ago...this one, again, is broken..headset jack keeps cutting out. And, to top it off, this one had one of those "pillows" as the only packing material in the box, so the phone was flying around from one end of the box to the other. Oh, and no return label, either. I called Verizon and they're sending ANOTHER replacement device...which should've arrived today..yeah, nope.

i got my second replacement D1 at home right now. Wish me luck.

p.s. does anyone know if these certified as new units are just used devices with new cases?

I believe that what they actually do is take the return devices and place them directly in a box to be shipped out. That's what it seems like from my experience.

I just received my 2nd replacement today and it, like the one I received on Monday, is being sent right back because the screen slider is incredibly loose. Even just moving my thumb with minor pressure up and down on the screen, the slider was moving around. I didnt even power it on because I knew it was worse than my current Droid which has a bad headphone jack.

I asked the tech rep if they could just send me a different model because I did not want to go through 5 or 6 bad replacements, she said that they could not send another model out yet, but that they would not allow me to have that many bad Droids. Droid #3 is being overnighted, so we'll see what kind of junk I get tomorrow!

Well this sucks immensely... I JUST called in today to get my phone replaced, because of terrible voice quality problems when in a phone conversation. My Droid 1 is relatively new and stiff, and now I find out that, almost indefinitely, I will be getting a crappy replacement unit that will feel noticeably older. That really is not fair :(

Well, they said to expect the unit on Monday. I highly doubt that I will be getting a new phone. If they do send me a terrible unit, how did you guys react? Did you send in your old phone (the phone you are replacing), or did you simply send back the replacement unit? Thanks!

They sent me my replacement phone today and it was a piece of junk. The screen wouldn't light up until I tapped it twice, the slider was wobbly, and it was a 1st Gen Droid. I have a 2nd Gen Droid with the more rounded keys.

I quickly called tech support. I was calm and polite. But if this next phone that is being overnighted to me is just like or worst than the one today.............

Its gonna get ugly.

I just keep sending back the crappy replacement phones. I am not going to accept a phone that is of lesser quality than my current one.

agreed. And always be polite. They are more willing to help out if you're nice about it.
On a side note, I had a good laugh when I was in the store yesterday getting a case exchanged.
The rep there tried telling me they always send out Link-New Replacements that are in excellent condition. And they are still making new Droid 1's....LOL good one

Whelp, looks like my time with the DROID is coming to an end. Put it on craigslist last night and already have 2 offers for 200 for the phone, holder and desk/car mounts.

I got $225 for my "like new" replacement phone with desk/car mounts, just about enough to pay for my DX and desktop charger (after coupon and corporate discount)

Well, just got an email from verizon informing me that my "certified" refurb droid has been sent. I guess this pretty much confirms that I'm getting an old phone lol.

I'm beginning to think that Verizon is too incompetent to actually get me a replacement. For some reason, the latest replacement (#3) got return-to-sender as undeliverable as addressed...the Post Office said that the label probably came off the box or was unreadable. Now they're mailing replacement #4.

So I picked up my certified "like new" unit today; loose sliding mechanism, wobbley screen, and flat keyboard. Called verizon, told them my droid is only 1.5 months old, and I want nothing less than the same quality and version as my current droid... the tech lady apologized, said that I shouldn't even have received the flat keyboard version in the first place, and promised me another replacement from a different center. At this point, I don't even care about the d2 or dx. I just want a like new droid with the raised keyboard, aka the phone I paid $150 dollars for. Ill report back on what happens, but the phone should arrive Monday.
