Wont connect to PC

I have done everything I can. I spent hours already trying to figure this out.

When I first purchased the phone about 2 months ago, it would connect perfectly. Until about 3 weeks ago when it randomly just would not want to connect. I have done everything I physically can. I did a factory reset using a custom recovery. I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers about 40 times while each time trying something different. I even tried putting different MicroSD cards.

Today, just ONCE I was actually able to connect it to the mass storage. Though, right when I enabled Debugging mode, it went away and stopped working. Been hours since I've been able to get it to work.

So, now my only hope is to get help from fellow android users. Is there anyone that could help me? PLEASE?!?!?!

Some people have better luck with the phone turned off.
Stop laughing.

Seriously, try it, I have to to get mine to work.
I think some of the recoveries cause the issue to be honest.

I had that problem before too, it drove me crazy, but try installing a new rom with a new kernel, or just a new kernel. I know that doesn't explain why suddenly your phone can't connect to the pc anymore, but it fixed the issue for me. I think certain kernels have pc connection issues, but I'm not sure what rom/kernel you're using currently.

This has been happening a few days ago when all that was done to my phone was being rooted. Now I am in a loop boot and I cant use adb commands on my phone.

So, I finally unbricked my phone. I was able to connect my phone to the computer if I turned on my phone, take out the battery for 5 minutes, put it back in, and plug the cord back into the phone and let it turn on itself. Though, I was in the boot loop, which sent me to the recovery. If I do that now, it will show in the notification bar that I can connect, but that goes away after about 20 seconds.

So, I started testing that with Device Manager. When I turn off phone, take out battery, etc and then connect the phone, the "Mass USB Storage" thing would come up under "Universal Serial Bus Controllers". But, after 20 seconds, it would disappear just when the notification would disappear on my phone. I get this "LGE CDMA Composite USB Device" only now. I am really stumped since I cannot find any solution at all.

EDIT: Also, I plugged in my brothers Optimus V and it would work perfectly and normally. His is unrooted, which no changes. This started happening to me a month or so after I rooted my phone. So, I do have the correct driver. It has to do with my phone.

EDIT2: I managed to get to work. Though, right when I turned on USB Debugging Mode, it disappeared. Along with the "Mass USB Storage" in device manager.

This is frustratingly hard when trying to get a new ROM.

Like I said, I used to have that problem until I flashed a new rom and kernel, but I understand if some optimus' don't have that problem stock, maybe some just have that issue. Try flashing a new rom/kernel combo like harmonia or bumblebee, and see if the problem persists.

It is a tad hard when the computer wont even connect to the phone though.

haha no I totally understand that :) But on the occasion when it does connect, best download a rom real quick. Also, have you tried to mount the usb in your custom recovery? I'm not sure which one you have, but I have thunderc recovery, and there's an option to mount the sd from the recovery menu.

I managed to get Bumblebee (my first ROM ever!! WHOOO!!!). Though, I still get the same problem. The few times I actually do get it to work, it stays on a long time. Until, I turn on Debugging Mode.

I cant think of anything that you would need to have the phone connected via the USB cable for..

to transfer files to the SD card (like roms and recoveries) you can put the microSD card into the adapter that CAME WITH YOUR OPTIMUS. specifically for this purpose....

also, anything you need ADB for can be done through terminal emulator.

soooo.. try these things becuase clearly your phone actually works but doesnt connect. who knows maybe one pin on your USB port is buggy and this phone will NEVER sync data to a PC again. even though it can charge. thats always a possibility.

anyways, use these options. get a sd card reader if your pc doesnt have one. youll be fine.

Have you tried using a different usb cable? Could not figure out why my buddies phone wouldn't connect to my computer even though mine worked fine, changed out the cable and magically it started connecting just fine.

Try Harmonia. I'm running it on my phone and everything works great. Haven't had any problems connecting either with usb mass storage or debugging. All phone functions work and I get the best battery life of all the roms I've tried. It still has the time without signal bug just like stock, but a simple airplane mode toggle at each boot fixes that.
