where is my music? i have had so much trouble trying to get music on this damn phone. double twist doesnt work, because it doesnt support mass storage mode. btw, paid wifi verison wouldnt work either, kept sayin g it couldnt find my phone. even tried manually syncing with the IP address with no avail.. so i ended up just downloading everything from google play. and now it is on my device, but i want to use a different media player and it cant find any of my music... ive looked in the music folder in astro and its empty. so when you make music available offline in "play music", where the heck is it stored?

edit: i cant even drag files from my music library to my phone. its giving me a "no" symbol

I believe it is stored in:

mnt/sdcard/Android/data/com.google.android.music/cache/music

The files are not named the same as when you uploaded to Google Music. It appears to just be numbers assigned to the mp3 files. I imagine the tags are OK though and should be recognized by a different media player. I haven't tried though.

Have you tried syncing your media via Media Player (if using a PC). This method works fine for me and syncs to the normal Music folder.

Also, I am able to browse the folders on my phone in Windows 7 and copy files to it. A long time ago I installed the USB drivers from the Samsung Site. I can't remember if that is necessary or not. You might try that. The drivers are in the download section of the Verizon Galaxy Nexus product page. This may also make the Nexus show up in your media programs to sync to it. Good Luck!

not sure why you are having such a hard time with this. while i use google music and the cloud for my tunes, i have added music before and played it with other players without any hassle.

directory is empty... nothing in there

so i did figure out how to transfer media to my phone from my pc, but i have to transfer individual songs, i can transfer folders, like albums or genres. problem here is my genres that are organized in itunes and zune, wont be one my phone.

so all that aside, how do i remove the google play music friom my phone once i have selected it to be available offline? i guess i could go back into the media player and "unpin" all of the music i elected to be available offline but thats a lot of work...

i really wish android had a better music /media manager, similar to zune...
