Worst screen glass ever. Not even 3 weeks in and I have a useless phone now. Thanks LG.

I had a useless Spigen Armor case on a now useless phone. I dropped the phone and it fell face flat. Gets a long crack in it and is barely responsive to anything, making it useless.

You would think a company would make a phone that could withstand normal human use. Awesome job LG (and Spigen too of course). That's like me buying a new, expensive car and if it gets into a minor fender bender - and that's a lot more rare than dropping a phone - then the car would become completely inoperable and useless.

My only hope is that since I bought it at Costco I have some way of getting a replacement or something.

Oh and the call reception on this thing was horrible. My G2 had much better reception.

you dropped the phone. don't blame LG. you ****ed up.

good luck.

Gekko was a bit harsh, but he's correct. Dropping a phone isn't a normal practice like rear ending a vehicle at 25 mph isn't normal driving. Your bumper and fender will almost certainly crack.

After I received my G3 on release day, I wanted evidence that proved the G3 was a quality device. The dBm on the G3 was about 10 dBm closer to zero, and that was compared to the entire Samsung line. The HTC M8 was very close. The G3 was 2-3 dBm better. Compared to Motorola, dBm readings were virtually identical. I didn't compare it to the iPhone.

You probably had a defective device. I've been thrilled with mine. My parents house was exclusively a 3G area when I had my S4. Now I get 4G in two rooms.

Good luck with the replacement. All phones are susceptible to screen fractures when dropped. The G3 has consistently received good reviews for reception and design.

What?? Everyone drops a phone. Good luck finding someone who has never dropped a phone. It's normal to do. It's a reasonable thing to happen. LG knows that. Yet they built a lemon that becomes useless after one drop with a case on it. LG should put out a product that can be used day to day rather just be admired from a distance.

Giddy, understandably you're upset. Your phone just broke. I'd be upset too. But don't think emotionally because it will only further upset you and emotional rationalization is usually false.

Phones do get dropped. No question. Cars get into accidents, can we call that typical and blame the manufacturer for installing plastic fenders? I've seen just about every make and model cellphone suffer a cracked screen. Talk to a customer service representative and explain what happened. Don't speak emotionally because you'll discredit yourself. Be matter of fact, and be clear that you are looking for a solution and you are hoping that you can be met half way.

Sorry, but this comment is just silly. LG uses the same glass that almost every premium (non-Apple) phone uses. There's no such thing as unbreakable glass. Whether the glass breaks when it falls depends almost entirely on how it lands, and what it lands on. You could drop that phone a hundred times without breaking it, or drop it once and have it hit just the right way to break the screen. Bad luck.

Now then, it's certainly possible to build phones that are more rugged and less likely to break. Samsung makes one, the S5 Active. But (1) few people want to buy it, and (2) even that screen isn't unbreakable.

Consumers vote with their wallets, and they (we) vote for thinner phones over rugged phones. If you had a choice of a stylish, thin phone with narrow bezels, or a rugged version that's twice as thick with a padded back, half an inch wider and taller with padded sides, glass that's twice as thick (and a less sensitive touchscreen asa result), and a quarter inch raised, rubber rim around the screen, which would you choose?

If you can honestly answer the brick, you're not the typical customer. LG would probably sell a grand total of 200 of that design. Otterbox makes great, highly protective cases for people who really want impact protection. You chose a case that offers almost none.

I have a Spigen case, with a glass screen protector, and have dropped my phone a number of times. It is still in pristine condition. The saying 'a poor workman always blames his tools' comes to mind.

I work in construction. In and out of my truck all day. My phone gets dumped and dropped a lot. I got an otter box when a got my maxx.. Best 50 bucks I've spent.

If you knew you were going to drop your phone you should have invested in a better case, or bubble wrap perhaps. It's kind of absurd that you're blaming LG here. You dropped the phone, take some responsibility.

I agree bro it's not ur fault, lg needs to make a more durable device. I know somebody that owned 2 lg's and both dropped only once, LCD touchscreen stopped working conpletely. He Had to replace both phones and instead he just got a s5.

Don't blame the guy for dropping his phone, it's common all around the world. If I dropped my phone I'd take full responsibility, but I'd hope for it to still work atleast, seeing how it's an expensive and flash ship phone. That's why people do drop tests for a reason....

Hope you purchased insurance. All phones have glass screens, subject to breaking if dropped. Recommend tempered glass screen protector on your next phone. You can also take phone to a shop that may repair screens, or watch YouTube to see if any screen videos exist.

You drop a phone and it breaks?
I have a screen protector and a case.
Dropping aphone just the right way, even in a case with a screen protector could leave you with a dead phone.
My daughter dropped a phone with a glass screen protector and a case and still had a dead phone. Crap happens.
Nothing is perfect.
I hope you had insurance or the phone has no apparent physical damage.

My phone has dropped about 4 times, no screen protector and a slim case on, not even a scratch my phone has.

You drop your phone blame the case maker and the manufacturer of the device but not you that dropped it lol...let me guess you didn't get insurance lol..

I drop my phone a few times and luckily I only scratch the corner. You never said exactly what your screen hit? And the case you were using, did it have the rubber bumper to protect the screen? That's why I'm always against people going naked. All it takes is an unlucky drop. A phone like lg 3g
Is a delicate electronic device, not a skateboard, so it doesn't react too well when drops against concrete.

People that don't properly protect their phone with proper brand screenprotector or bumper case when taken fresh from box, often complain afterwards when their phone gets ruined after unlucky dropping..
Stating their screen sucks, and isn't drop resistant...
There are enough droptest from every new phone on YouTube, and most of the phones DON'T survive the front face drop and shatter their screen totally!!
It's just an unlucky drop, and how the phone drops, that makes the total difference in damage to screen!
BUT YOU COULD All HAVE PREVENTED IT BY BUYING A QUALITY CASE AND SCREENPROTECTOR OR SHATTERPROOF GLASS! (NOT CHEAP CHINA IMPORTS!)

The thing is that everyone drops their phone, that part is true however that is why we should use covers or at least some decent screen protectors.

Screens have never been highly durable, even the more recent sapphire ones crack when they impact the ground.

The G3 is a bit of a rushed device, LG tried to be one of the first(if not the first) OEMs to launch a phone with a 2K display, and to maybe cut on costs they opted to sacrifice certain aspects of the screen namely durability(and a few other things).

I dropped my Sony Xperia S back in 2013, it never worked again nor could it be repaired. It's lying in my house now, around $400 wasted. :/

While yes the consumer is partly to blame some OEMs make pretty fragile products, for me that was Sony for you I guess it's LG.

a couple months ago, I dropped my Huawei Y300, glass down, flat onto concrete. No case, no screen protector.

Screen smashed. Still functional (aside from high risk of shredding fingertips...) but smashed. My bad for being a clutz, no case, no screen protector. Yes, drops happen. Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes not.

It was the first time I've broken a screen though, but here's the difference (aside from also being the first time I've dropped a non-cased phone onto something other then carpet). 99% of the time, my drops are "tumbles". The phone is rotating, usually after glancing off something else - my fingers, leg, furniture, etc. This seems to make a HUGE difference. This time it was an exact flat fall onto concrete. When I went to pick it up, it wasn't to see if the screen HAD broken, it was to see HOW BAD it was. I knew it was done.

LG's warranty doesn't cover physical abuse or damage - which a drop certainly is. Sucks but there it is. Hopefully you can get the screen and digitizer replaced for a decent price. It does suck - I get it. But unless you have insurance on it, you're kinda stuck. Sorry about your luck :(
