Worst screen glass ever. Not even 3 weeks in and I have a useless phone now. Thanks LG.

Honestly, this is one of the most ridiculous threads ever.
Your average smartphone is not meant to be dropped....period.
If you would have used your own reasoning that "What?? Everyone drops a phone. Good luck finding someone who has never dropped a phone. It's normal to do." You would have purchased one of the many heavy duty phones designed for such carelessness.
Sorry, I would have been sympathetic to your plight but it's hard to feel bad for people that blame everyone else for self induced misfortune.

Just buy a new digitiser (this is what's cracked and making your phone unresponsive) for like under $20 and replace yourself. The job is easy and you'll be back up and running in no time.

I never drop my phones. But if I did, I would repair my damage.

Haha streight to the point and a wonderful way with words as usual bb lol

Its true though and one of the most ridiculous threads I have seen.

You dropped your phone and who is responsible oh Yeh Lg lol

These phones are not designed with the centre focus on dropping them and yes that includes cases. It's upto the case manufacturer to do drop tests for their product if they don't well blame them to right lol

If I drop any phone it's my responsibility and stupidity. I am well aware that it's chance and physics on if it brakes in anyway or not.

Your annoyed and Yeh rightfully so but let that be at yourself.

What?? Everyone drops a phone. Good luck finding someone who has never dropped a phone. It's normal to do. It's a reasonable thing to happen. LG knows that. Yet they built a lemon that becomes useless after one drop with a case on it. LG should put out a product that can be used day to day rather just be admired from a distance.

Hate to burst your bubble but I never use cases on any phone and I have NEVER dropped a single phone.
I have tried a few cases, they never make it more than a week. My 2014 Moto x is Nekid now.
I have come close to dropping one, but I treat my phone like a $700 pocket computer.
I also have never dropped my $800 laptop for the same reason. I am careful.
In other words, I keep a death grip on it when I use it, or its back in my pocket, protected.

I do normally carry insurance incase I ever do drop that first phone. nearly all phones break when dropped. Some people get lucky and drop them 5 times and never have any major damage, some people drop their phones one time and it requires a $200 deductible to get it working again.

......You would think a company would make a phone that could withstand normal human use. Awesome job LG (and Spigen too of course). .

i think fault lies somewhere in between BOTH Mfgr & User and here's why.... Phone should be able to somewhat withstand a reasonable topple, and of course we shouldn't be dropping them...

I had my LG G2 for almost a year flying without a case, screen protector or parachute, and luckily never got so much as a mark on it... However, that being said, i have NO LIFE so treating my phones like the delicate creatures they are is easy for me. If i need to use the phone, i quickly say, "world, please stop spinning for a sec while i take this", and it does, i finish using it, and put it right back in its cushioned "anti nuclear" baby crib cradle i keep in my purse, and allow world to proceed...lol

But seriously, of all phones i ever had, i can only recall it being LG G2 that ppl i knew would show me "scratches" on the face of the phone... i was like "whaaaaa?" Shocked me and led me to believe the glass quality on the LG G2 (and perhaps LG G3) is not quite up to the standard of other flagships...

Just a hunch, but i can't recall my friends showing me deep scratch in any other Premium phones they have...

I had a useless Spigen Armor case on a now useless phone. I dropped the phone and it fell face flat. Gets a long crack in it and is barely responsive to anything, making it useless.

You would think a company would make a phone that could withstand normal human use. Awesome job LG (and Spigen too of course). That's like me buying a new, expensive car and if it gets into a minor fender bender - and that's a lot more rare than dropping a phone - then the car would become completely inoperable and useless.

My only hope is that since I bought it at Costco I have some way of getting a replacement or something.

Oh and the call reception on this thing was horrible. My G2 had much better reception.

Phones aren't made to withstand drops. Don't blame LG for your carelessness.

Yeah D, a little too old and tired for diplomacy.....
Call it like I see it.

Depending upon the city you live in, you should be able to find a certified repair specialist that can repair your device.
I live in Atlanta and we have several phone repair companies listed on craigslist and in google and even on Groupon. Try that...

I get what the OP is saying and why he's so upset. He had the phone less than 3 weeks and the screen is toast. Manufacturers really need to put timers on the glass. Some kind of magic spell that won't let the glass be broken for the first few months. Maybe some kind of imp that hangs around for 3 months and catches it before it hits the ground. I mean 3 weeks? Unacceptable.
And why do they even use glass? Glass is fragile. They should use diamonds instead. Or maybe transparent aluminum. Sure that would add a couple thousand dollars(or more) to the cost of the phone, but it will be much better than paying a couple hundred to have a broken screen fixed. And for those who have never had a broken screen, well they should have to pay extra for a diamond screen anyway because, well, they just should.

Phones drops are all different I i upgrade to the latest and greatest once a year and have broken a few screens. I have had several bad drops with no breakage then have a stupid little drop which breaks the screen can never quite figure it out. Sorry for your bad luck but it's all manufactures not just LG.

I punched a bloke in the face in the pub last week. I'm suing him for damaging my knuckles...

I've never dropped a phone.....no, I'm not lying I'm actually being serious.

I've also never dropped a phone, but I've observed many that have. Like I've said on this forum, I follow a particular phone handling methodology.
-In public places the phone is either in my hand or in my pocket. Exceptions are few - such as placing it on the seat tray of an airplane.
-When making a call and walking I hold onto it like it contains nitro glycerin and will blow me the f* up if dropped.
-I use a case at all times. Primarily because easier to grip.

I've observed many people drop their phones. A few examples...
-Two guys get off a train and the first decides to take a shortcut over a 3 foot metal fence. The first hops the fence without incident. The second follows his buddy. His phone drops from a pocket onto paving stones. He picks it up. Phone cracked. Expression of displeasure on his face.
-A giggly girl takes selfie with iPhone 5s. She hand the phone to a friend for viewing, it slips out of the friend's hand and drops on pavement. Sad expression follows.

I've seen that look - the moment the person becomes aware that their phone is cracked. I would imagine the OP had that same expression on their face. And I don't think a reasonable person would blame it on the phone.

One of the most awesome things about the LG G3 is the glass digitizer is very easy and inexpensive to replace. If you know how to use a screwdriver you can easily do it yourself. Just watch the YouTube videos. Phones like the old Samsung S3 was a nightmare. hundreds of dollars for the digitizer alone and tricky to repair.
IMO insurance on a G3 isn't worth it for most of us since the glass is so inexpensive to replace. And broken glass is the most frequent consequense of a dropped phone.

Exactly.

I've only dropped a phone one time, and it was because it was knocked out of my hand by someone else, just saying. While it does happen to some people, not to everyone. Perhaps a stronger case next time? Also, my GF just dropped her m8 yesterday from 4 feet high only a flat surface and it has a nice crack in it. It's not just LG, phones break when they hit the ground, simple as that.

Or we just have to stop buying phones until Scotty actually does invent transparent aluminum (that's thin enough to act as a touchscreen).

I'd settle for a phone with upgradeable RAM and ROM. If a 72 year old can hold onto a large phone, you kids should be able to hold on to yours.

They have... It's called sapphire glass (which is corundum, or aluminum oxide). But while you can't scratch it, it actually shatters easier than gorilla glass and requires that the brightness is cranked since it's not as good optically.
