Worth buying a used Nexus 6?

I just had to get a no problem replacement for my N6 that had a fried accelerometer. Verizon sent my replacement overnight. I was thinking that if I had purchased this from a private party online from the various selling outlets, I would have had a huge problem. The prices online are within at least a hundred and sometimes less than $50 from getting a new one from either Moto or Google or any other vendor that offers a warranty or replacement. Seems very risky to me when the price is that close.
