I upgrade next year and I want a phone which will last for the 2 years with lighting performance and a great overall package... Does the U11 fit the bill? Or shall I consider the Oneplus 5? Any better alternatives (that offer a stock/near stock android experience)?

Thanks

I can't trust oneplus delivering updates(the 3t is one-year old device and the oreo is the latest android update it will receive) so if you care about the updates go for Pixel or wait the pixel 2 (less than 2 weeks!).

I think you should wait until the u11 plus will come out, rumors say that it will have bezeless display

That's if you prefer bezel-less phones. If both the U11 and the U11 plus were available at the same time I would have chosen the U11. I prefer the front fingerprint scanner, capacitive buttons and the aspect ratio better on the U11. Also the sound may be affected by having a bezel-less display.

I'm with you. I had a Nexus 6P previously, and didn't like the fingerprint being on the back. I love how quickly the U11's reader scans and logs in -- it's by far the fastest I've used. And, it's in the perfect place. I also prefer the aspect ratio, and don't really care about the bezels.

Exactly, it's up to this decision, but if he will wait I guess he will know better what he wants, and the price of the u11 should go down a little, isn't it?

I would say both the HTC U11 and the OnePlus 5 would be great two-year commitments. It depends on what you're looking for. They have similar features (double tap to wake screen, similar battery life, front fingerprint scanner); but there are hardware differences as well. I think they both have the latest software installed too! It could even come down to pricing - the OnePlus is ~$200 less than the U11.

Sorry that I'm not that helpful here lool, it's hard to choose between them! I think if you're just going to slap down flagships, though, and compare them that way, the U11, in my opinion, is the best flagship out there at the moment.

Wait, you're upgrading next year? When next year? Because the OnePlus6 and whatever HTC calls the 12 will be released next year. I assume you aren't even thinking Samsung so the S9 in March is out of the question. LG should also have a G7 before March.

You bring up a very good point! Also, when those devices come out, the U11 and OP5 will likely become cheaper.
