Worth buying full retail?

I am a verizon customer so I would have to pay full retail. My yearly upgrade isn't until October so I could just wait a few more months to save the extra 200$. The 500$ won't effect my budget so which is why I'm considering buying it at full retail. My phone now barely works and the buttons are unresponsive at times. I can certainly live with it for now, but the convenience this phone would give me, I think would be worth the extra cost to buy it now.

You guys gave me some good points to look into, I think I may order it online or wait till it comes to the stores at $529 price. I do think the extra 70 from BB isn't worth it though, so I'm not going to buy from them.

Thanks for the input!

Try calling customer service and tell them the shape the phone you currently have is in, and what you want to do. They will more than likely work with you. Worst that's going to happen they don't fully drop the price for you. Since you have already considered buying it at full retail you got nothing to lose. It's worth a try!

I sold my Storm 2 and got 325. I paid 565 after tax for the Incredible. I paid $240 without a contract. It was worth it

Ok. You said that the money wont affect your budget at all. Get the phone. Tell best buy to price match and they will. They make money off of you each month that you pay your bill. Trust me on this as I'm in network marketing and this IS how they make there money. They will price match for you. So, hoping to see you post tomorrow from the incredible.

Well kind of how they make their money. They are a reseller for Verizon, so Verizon I would imagine actually still handles the phone subsidizing meaning BestBuy gets their phones from them through a supply chain. In return for customers they make a certain percentage of money per sale back from Verizon. That's probably also why BestBuy marks the phone up a bit because then on top of a percentage of each sale, if they don't have to price match it, then they also get the extra on top of the phone.

It's a lot more complicated than that, but best buy doesn't end up getting a little off you each month, Verizon or any big company for that matter is not going to be that generous, especially considering BestBuy needs Verizon more than Verizon needs BestBuy.

(As a side note I could be completely off on this but this is my feeling towards the whole thing)

i dont think there's a cellphone in the world worth $500, but thats just my 2 cents

A cell phone? is that what you consider the Incredible? Or any smartphone for that matter. These are portable computers that happen to make phone calls. If all you want is a cell phone, the Razr is still very much available.

Back to the original question. I sold my droid for $350 and paid $529 for the Incredible. Well worth it in my mind.

which is basically what i did, i didnt want to commit to 2 lines for 2 years or even 1 year really, i might want to dump the line after 2 months and go back to the BB or get rid of it and use the Inc only.

They'll miss you on crackberry.

Tried having them price match but got denied several times. They have to buy the phone from Verizon which is why they resell them at a higher profit. They wouldn't budge on selling it at the matched price.
