Just pulled the trigger on the pixel 5

Thanks to everyone in this thread for the persuasion....
I was able to get a Black Pixel 5 ordered Friday 7/30 at 11:15 at night right before the unlocked ver. was sold out again.

I have a Pixel 3 from launch, for me the prefect phone, and hadn't thought about another phone.
But all the Pixel 6 rumors had me getting discouraged since it would be everything I don't want my phone to be.
-too big
-no fingerprint sensor on the back
-a phone wide camera hump (want a flat back)
-more $$ then I'd want to spend

I would be happy to use my 3 forever, but battery is not lasting as long and it's had a couple hiccups.
Not knowing if a Pixel would ever have my must haves anytime soon, I'm glad I was able to snag a 5.

My wants/must haves for a phone: (What few they are)
#1 -it is no bigger then my 3! (6 is ruining that)
#2 -fingerprint sensor on the back (no face unlock or under screen)
#3 wireless charging (I'm spoiled now)
#4 -obviously a bigger battery than the 3 has

My delivery is still showing Sep 1-2

They release a whole bunch of information on it today. They are 6.7 and 6.4 and look to both have that gross curved screen. Seeing that teaser video just now really cemented in the fact that the pixel 5 was the right call.

Maybe we will both be in luck and a whole bunch of people who ordered the 5 will cancel their orders and we get ours sooner!!!!

Also, did you buy a wireless charging dock from Google? I've never tried wireless charging and forgot my Pixel 5 had that capability lol.

We practically have the exact same hesitations about the 6 lines and needs for a new phone! Congratulations on your Just Black Pixel 5 purchase! Let us know when you get it and how you are liking it!

Also, did you buy a wireless charging dock from Google? I've never tried wireless charging and forgot my Pixel 5 had that capability lol.

I have a P5 and use the Google dock daily - no problems.

They've come way down in price... I was actually considering picking one up. But then I thought about what I'd use it for and realized for me not much . For $40 maybe I should try one just to see I plan on sticking with pixels for the foreseeable future, maybe I would grow to appreciate it down the road

The unlocked version is available at the Google Store right now. I snatched one up and will activate it on VZW once it arrives on 9/3 or 9/4. Unless, it arrives sooner.

Amazon had an unlocked version available on 7/30 so I ordered one from there. It was due to arrive on 8/31, so the race was on between Amazon and Google Store. The Amazon order arrived on 8/7! I cancelled the Google Store order and have been enjoying my new phone all week!

I got the Just Black version and put it in a Spigen Tough Armor case. I had that for the P2 and liked it. The Tough Armor for the P5 is definitely a bit thicker, but isn't a deal breaker.

Overall, I am very, very happy with it and the battery is a beast. The main reason I didn't hold out for the P6 is that I really like the fingerprint reader on the back. The sound is good, but I use earbuds when I listen to music so I'm not a good judge for sound quality. The camera is great for the few photos I've taken. There is still so much more to experience with the camera and phone.

Hello! I'm so glad you are loving your new Pixel 5! And the Just Black version is classically beautiful! Yes, the battery life is awesome and I too enjoy the sound! I agree that having the fingerprint reader on the back is great, too. I enjoy that more than the ultrasonic one on the touchscreen - though I did enjoy it still, on my S10.

Keep us posted on how you are liking it once you've had it for a while longer!
