worth giving up for a maxx?

thats all the maxx has is the battery life . i have one and used it for awhile slice it any way you want to your not getting as much for your money with the maxx as you are with the s3 . theres no reason moto couldnt put a good camera on the maxx . or a hd screen . and of course some people will say well its a phone not a camera blah blah blah . fact is they both compete in the same market and the s3 is the better over all device IMHO after owning and using both .

Yes you are correct. All the Maxx has is the component that keeps it on. I can't argue with you there. That Galaxy S3 HD screen looks so incredible, too bad it doesn't have a battery to turn it on.


Again, people downplay the biggest aspect like it is no big deal. So next time i'm in my driveway with a car that has no gas (the S3) and I see a car speed by down the road (the Maxx) I will yell out to them........"YOU CAN SLICE IT ANYWAY YOU WANT TO, BUT ALL YOUR CAR HAS OVER MINE IS YOU HAVE GAS IN IT! My car sounds fantastic with the K&N Filter and the Flowmaster Muffler. It's a shame I have no gas in it to prove it to you"


You must be missing SOMETHING with your S3 if you came to the Maxx forum to defend it....Especially when this thread has nothing to do with the S3 at all. If you look at the first of this thread, I actually recommended OP keep the S3. Obviously I think it's a great device. I will however take issue when people pretend the battery isn't a big deal. You're talking about the thing that makes your phone turn on for crying out loud. How do you downplay that and act like it isn't a huge deal?

I don't strive to have the latest and greatest. I need a battery that will last me all day while i stream music for 8 hours, play some bad a$$ games while taking a sh!t, watch the evening news while im working late. Blah blah blah.

I had nexus, wife had S3, seriously I don't know what I'm missing with my Maxx. I do know what I missed with my Nexus, a phone that could run all day on a single charge.

used it for a full day...off the charger at 9am, threw it on the charger at 9pm with 50% battery..played some NBA Jam and Max Payne, streamed some G Music and watched a tv show...not bad at all

LOL the original poster's question was is it worth giving up the s3 to get a MAXX . and since i have bought and paid for both and used both units for more than a day or two i felt qualified to give my opinion . i didnt come here to defend anything the man asked for opinions i gave him mine based on my actual use of the two phones in question . as far as the battery life goes YES the maxx will last longer by a good bit . that said im using my s3 the exact same way i was my maxx and i have yet to run out of GAS in a normal days use for me. dont no why everybody is so touchy about the MAXX its a good phone no doubt but the s3 will make it through a day for the majority of users out there . and for the average user what does the maxx have to offer thats better than the s3 ..... thats right nothing .

you might actually make a better point if not for this last paragraph lol! the whole thread is about getting rid of the s3 for a maxx LOL . further more i come into the maxx forum to read up and see if and when the patch is coming to fix the 3 or 4 things that ICS broke on my MAXX . just happened to stumble onto this thread . also its not like you here of a bunch of people complaining about battery life on the s3. multiple people have said there s3 makes it through a normal days use for them some right here in this thread . none of them said they had to take extra precautions to make it through the day . the s3 has the biggest standard battery of any phone out right now except the maxx plus a more efficient chip . but still some of you act like its not possible to make it through the day with out the maxx. I hope all of you enjoy your MAXX and have a good night . i enjoyed mine so much i sold it to a co worker.

Hey, we're all in the same Android boat, and all of these phones are pretty darn good, so let's all be cool. You must know that people love the phone they have, and are often quite passionate about it, so if you make a statement like "thats all the maxx has is the battery life," you have to expect some counterpoint. I assume you meant that the main advantage the Maxx has over the S3 is the battery life, while the S3 has the advantage in all other aspects (which is totally fine as your opinion, but still up for debate); but the tone of the statement seems more demeaning than that, whether you meant it or not. And as unhealthy as it may seem, for many people on forums like this, their tech is an extension of themselves, which is how flame wars start.

I'm not trying to "make a point" that satisfies you. I'm sharing my opinion. If you're a heavy user, the Maxx wins. If you are not, I'd get the S3 cause I really like it.

If you truly enjoy exploring everything these phones could do, you would not downplay the size of the battery.

whatever dude the Maxx is the greatest . i totally only use my s3 for like 3 min a day before i turn it off in fear of the battery going dead i truly dont use my phone to the fullest as you do . you have a nice day . i gotta run i hear the low battery warning going off on my s3 i checked the weather this morning what was i thinking .

I have two coworkers that got S3's. One of them is already sending his back because it "grenaded" itself. It got so hot you couldn't touch it. Probably a defective battery. Meh. That happens. The other guy hates his already because with "his" moderate use, it's on the charger 5 hours later. I've showed him my logs of where I logged 18+ hours with 4.5 hours of screen on time. He is taking his back and getting a Maxx.

I played with both of them. They are pretty nice. Very slick interface. Very smooth. Indeed quicker than the Maxx. Still wouldn't trade my Maxx because I hate being tied to a charger and I'm a fairly heavy user. This is the first phone I've had that I didn't have to charge while at work, etc.

Heavy user? ---> Maxx

Don't mind charging ---> S3

in my opinionand experience......i like and went with the maxx cuz i am a heavy user on my phone and battery life was most impressive for me......my last phone (droid x) - the battery got sooo fat from expanding it wouldnt hold a charge anymore even when it said it was at a full charge coming off the charger after sending ONE text.....

my sister has the S3....and idk i wasnt diggin the dim screen (we compared our phones side by side) even when hers was set as max brightness.....to me the features were similair (functionality,apps, features, etc).....her screen is indeed bigger but cmon if u really need a bigger screen than what the maxx has or even that of the S3 then perhaps one should get a tablet (iPad, etc).....other than the fact she has a Siri wanna be (which didnt work really well) or the fact that her and her bf can "bump/tap" their phones together to share a file (which is pretty cool).........i still like my maxx....

her S3 (without a case on it) is waaaay slippery..... (i wasnt likin that at all)
my maxx (without the skin on it) wasnt slippery feeling

but again........its each owner's preference right?.....

I think someone is taking this and trying to make it more emotional than it needs to be. You call out the battery, we respond, you get sarcastic and offended. I fail to see where its our fault that you took that path.

I can guarantee that in 6 months I will still have my Razr Maxx (unless I win something better all around). I don't pay full price for phones...and since I have unlimited data, whichever phone I buy next will be "gently used" as I will be paying for it completely OOP. lol

Glad you love your S3. I don't like the look of Samsung phones, but a lot of people do.

I haven't looked at the S3 forum, but if the battery is so great the users should be posting screen shots. For me a full day is 6:00am to 11:00pm and I don't think the S3 can last that long with moderate to heavy use. If I go out after work the last thing I want to worry about is my phone dying. I'd say my Maxx has things covered, but don't get me wrong, I really like the S3 too. The problem is once you live with the Maxx for awhile nothing else will do. For you Samsung guys the "d" next to the 1 stands for day.

first off i never called out the battery life I freely admit the battery life is far superior to anything else out there . the only point im trying to make and its one nobody here wants to admit to is the battery life on the S3 is fine for the vast majority of people . and Other than having a battery that lasts longer than a day what does the MAXX do that the s3 doesnt do better ? I use my s3 to take all the calls for my business its my work phone so it has to hold up and so far i have not had any problems making it through a normal work day 8 to 10 hours . and im not the one that started the sarcasm that was you sir in your first reply to me or thats how it came across .
