Android Central Question

All I can afford at the moment is the Samsung S7 (around £150). Does anyone know if i will be able to use banking (HSBC, barclays etc) apps on this phone? I had an iphone 5 previously and after a while the updates could not take place due to the IOS. would i have the same problem with Samsung?

Welcome to Android Central! The S7 got as high as Oreo, so it's unlikely that you'd run into app compatibility issues based on the OS version alone. That's not to say that there couldn't be a regional incompatibility, if the variant you got was not intended for your own country. At this time, Google has officially stopped support for Jellybean (4.1-4.3), but we've been seeing a number of posts about Kitkat (4.4) devices losing support for a number of apps. That's still a full 4 OS versions behind Oreo, so considering that most people hold onto a phone for an average of 2 years, I think you'd be ok.

I'm in the UK. My phone is running Oreo 8.1 and all apps I have tried run fine and I expect that they will for another 2 years.
My tablet running KitKat will not run some apps, annoyingly the new BBC Sounds app is not compatible with KitKat.
As B Diddy says, you should be okay with the S7 if it has Oreo.
