Re: removing phone from android battery life improvement?

If you mean turning off mobile data, then I'd guess there would be at least minimal battery saving because it's one less thing to be processed by the CPU. (even though most T-pads don't have the actual radio inside for mobile data)

title makes perfect sense. The touchpad doesn't need the phone really, unless you have the 4G model. So, theoretically one should be able to remove it. But, the android rom used came from a phone or device with phone capabilities and many things in the system may still rely on this.
I did the same thing and removed the phone app from the system. unfortunately, I had a few system crashes once I did that. It seems there are some system processes that rely on this and try to call it every so often. That's probably when the system freezes. Let me know how yours goes. I removed both phone.apk/phone.odex and telephonyProvider.apk/odex from the /system/app/ folder (Xron 2.9.1). The other thing is that the battery life was just as bad as it was before (about 2/3ds of what I get in webos).

cheers
