Hi all,
Would you buy a new flagship phone every 2 years or a new Nexus every year?

I buy 2 flagships per year but I have an issue lol went thru 5 this year

If future Nexus' costs the same off contract and available on my network I'd really prefer to go with a Nexus.

If I had the option I would buy a new nexus every year but I am on Verizon so I may never see one again plus you can't just buy a unlocked phone to use on there service unless you pay full price. I sell my phones after I get a new one so I make some of the money back.

I'm so happy I left Verizon for AT&T to get the one in may. Their such dickheads, act like the snobby stuck up girl in high school

Hmm, I don't want to trade my device in that often. There are more cool ones out there then I will ever get to play with but on my phones I have always found a device that I have been happy with and haven't wanted to retire it until the hardware was finally interfering with using newer software.

Next year's Note is going to have be really impressive to get me to want to trade my Note 3 in early. $300-$400 is still a lot of money for me though and if I spend that much, I would like to make what I am getting last.

I paid $185 for my white Nexus 5 32GB when I factor in the $234 I got for my Nexus 4 16GB when I sold it on Swappa a week later (couple days ago).

I anticipate buying the next Nexus device next year and expect the resell value of the Nexus 5 to be more than it's predecessor.

Yeah... I'm in the same boat. I had 9 phones last year and have had 5 this year. I have an addiction.

I'd go with the new flagship every two. Being the first phone to get updates has never been an issue for me since I root and Rom my phones soon as I get them, and more importantly I've never been that impressed with the Nexus phones overall.
Of course the price on the new N5 is VERY appealing.

I think price plus the specs that you get for that price is key with the Nexus 4 and 5. Flagship phones will always have features not available or expanded on from AOSP. Manufactures want to make their product stand out from the pack with the latest and greatest, even if that means features that you can only get with certain devices or OEM's.

Easily flagship every two. I don't have any reason not to stick to getting subsidized phones on contract, so it would be significantly cheaper for me to get the flagship phones. I don't care about "pure" Android or super speedy updates, either.

I never considered the N4 when it came out. Simply due to its lack of LTE, poor battery life, and lower overall specs compared to similar phones that were released during the same timeframe. These issues alone severely hurt their overall sales. That said, I think the N5 is a vast improvement over previous models.

I thoroughly enjoyed Jerrys comparison of the Nexus 5 against the Moto X. If I had to choose between those two devices, I too would go with the Moto X over the N5.
