Would you buy a phone from Radio Shack

So If VZW messes up my order, I know the Radio Shack around the corner from me seems to get 1 or 2 Verizon premium phones on release dates and nobody seems to go to that store for phones. Being that I am also buying mine at full price to keep data, they offer 10% off if you use their card and a $50 trade in for my old thunderbolt would make it $550 vs $707 from VZW. Question is, what happens if you have any issues with the phone, etc? Does Vzw treat it the same way as if you ordered from them directly? Has anyone here used Radio Shack to purchase a VZW phone?

I never purchase a phone from Radio Shack, Best Buy either. If something goes wrong with my phone I will love the option to go straight to VZ. That's why I only purchase my phones from the carrier (Verizon, Sprint, Bell Atlantic, Nynex). I understand the 10% off and $50.00 for your thunderbolt, however when paying full retail I like to deal only with Verizon. If something goes wrong with your phone, you can't go to vz. But I understand $550 vs $707. What type of insurance will RS give you?

Radio Shack will sneak in an insurance plan with your purchases, so watch out when you buy any product from there.

Only time it matters where you buy it is if you want to return it for a refund or exchange. Warranty is handled by vzw on behalf of the manufacturer.

I purchased a phone from Radio Shack when the original evo came out. Ended up returning it without problem or restocking fee.

Radio shack sucks. I bought a phone and needed to return it but couldn't because they somehow had a different imei # on my receipt than the one on the box and phone. Had me there over 3 hours and pretty much just said we messed up but nothing we can do. Never again will I buy from there. Plus they tried to tell me along with restocking fee I'd have to pay the etf fee even though I was only a week into having the phone.

So......did you prevail in the end? :)

Personally, I wouldn't because Radio Shack has a policy much like that of Amazon and WireFly that if you make a change to your plan or switch phones, you're forced to pay full retail for the phone. When I had purchased the Bionic (and luckily took it back within the return period), Radio Shack's full retail price was $800 when Verizon's was $600. I switch phone pretty frequently and this would have burned me pretty badly. In fact, I'm not sure I'll even have the Galaxy S III through the end of the year.

I work for Radioshack and if you have a problem with your phone and you're not under our insurance plan there's nothing they'll do for you. You would have to go through manufacturer or try Verizon but usually they will tell you its not their problem since you didn't buy it there. You can opt to get Verizon's insurance plan if you purchase at Radioshack though, but you'd probably have to ask since most associates won't offer it to you since we're more inclined to sell ours.

my old man buys his phones from the shack but he is on AT&T, he did have a problem with his phone, a samsung captivate and they sent him to an at&t repair center and they replaced the phone, it was just under a year old

I know we are talking different companies but it SHOULD work the same
