Would you get rid of S7 edge for a pixel xl?

Between the apps AT&T and Samsung preload onto this device, in addition to Samsung's "services", I'd gladly jump over to a Pixel.

I don't care about Touchwiz, or Samsung's edge screen, Themes or their proprietary services. I want the ability to choose from the get-go what I want on my device. With Package disabler, its a mess trying to find out what exactly should be disabled.

I agree and even disabling all of them you still dont benefit battery wise. I had package Disabler on my s7 edge and then when I got my replacement s7 edge I didn't put it on and got the same battery life. So to me it makes no difference. Started the pixel right up and had to make zero setting modifications and I'm getting much better battery life than the edge

I did.
After the fiasco with their Note I didn't want to have to take extra precautions at airports or on airplanes with those less educated thinking I had a fire hazard with me.
Plus I am really enjoying the Pixel XL.

I'd rather sit on a porcupine than get a Samsung phone...jk. They're actually very good phones and I ended up returning what would have been the best device I've ever owned...the Note 7 even though I don't care much for the glass back and preinstalled bloat. Tried the edge but it's just not the same...returned it too.

I currently have the s7 edge and was wondering if it is worth getting rid of it for the Pixel xl? besides newer OS, is there any advantage over the edge?

I did -- sort of. I mean I've already ordered the Pixel XL 128GB but VZW has breezed through their promised ship date so I don't know when, or if, I'll ever receive the Pixel XL. Should you swap? Can't tell you yes or no. But I have used Note devices for years and like Samsung stuff a lot. I just found the Edge to be small and sort of boring. Not sure what I'll think of the Pixel when (if) it actually arrives, but the Edge seems kind of meh. The nice thing about the Pixel, IMHO, is that it's so unadorned that the OS won't get in your way if/when you want to customize/fine-tune it.

I got rid of my S7 because I don't like to wait on the updates from the carrier and no bloatware.

I've got both the 7Edge and the Pixel XL. Got the 7Edge after having returned the N7. I'm actually sticking with the Pixel. It really does "just work" and never stutters. I do think I'm actually getting much better battery life out of the Pixel than I am on the 7Edge (and that's comparing my Edge before the bug hit it).

And regarding the Edge panels, although a nice feature, definitely tend to create lag on the phone... especially the more of them you use. And things do really launch and respond faster on the Pixel. My other issue with the Edge panels, and I know this may start a flame war over the topic of bezels, but it got annoying trying to hold the Edge without unintentionally touching something or clicking on something.

I wouldn't have tried the Pixel if not for the Wi-Fi bug on the latest security update that messed up my 7Edge and created crazy battery drain and overheating. Had I found out the cause was the Wi-Fi scanning (and yes, I did search but couldn't find the answer) before I got the Pixel XL, I probably wouldn't have bought it, but I'm glad I did.

The one thing that I do miss a whole lot from my Sammy is the wireless charging. I do love that and was surprised Google didn't put it in the Pixel. I'm not saying that I wouldn't go back to a Sammy device...I did love the N7 and if a N8 comes out, I'll likely get it (love the S-Pen), but the ease of use and fluidity of system response on the Pixel is just undeniable.

If you're going to get the Pixel/XL just manage your expectations about not having some of the Sammy features like the edge panels and making sure you can do without them. I've found nothing else outside of the lack of wireless charging, that was a problem for me.

Because of Nougat, I have the split screen with apps like I have on the 7Edge, albeit the 7Edge has a few extra options in that area, I.e. the pop-up windows; but the Pixel method is just fine. In terms of the camera, Sammy's cameras have always been excellent. I think the cameras are about equal in my eye, but supposedly the Pixel XL is better. And the back finger print scanner (and notification shade pull down) are great

Absolutely, Pixel XL is way better than the laggy S7 edge and camera is better too. Only advantage Samsung had was camera and with the awesome camera in Pixel don't have to deal with Samsung and their software. I know lots of people love Samsung phones and that's fine everyone has different tastes. But Pixel is perfect Android phone for me, regular and latest software updates, best camera, great screen, size, buttery smooth performance.

No. You'll have better water resistance on the S7 edge (IP68 on the edge vs IP53 on the Pixel), losing out on expandable storage with the Pixel XL, losing out on wireless charging with the Pixel XL, the S7 edge has better battery life, and the Pixel XL doesn't have the edge display. The camera on the S7 edge is almost as good as the camera on the Pixel. The only advantage the Pixel has over the S7 edge is Google Assistant. If you think that's worth the upgrade price, have at it.
Although I prefer the edge for other reasons the flat screen of the Pixel or Pixel Xl is a big advantage imo.

Not only would I, but I did. Love my Pixel XL, owned a gold S7E from day one. Do I miss the water resistance of the S7E? A little bit. Do I miss wireless charging? Not at all, never could have made it through the day without it on my S7E, rarely have to plug in my XL except at night and then I usually have 40% of a charge left. Love the speed, the updates, the lack of bloatware and the camera. LOVE THE CAMERA.

No I wouldn't do it. The Pixel camera isn't "better" than the s7 edge. I actually prefered the s7 edge's camera. Takes more realistic photos and the audio quality in videos isn't even close. If you like the s7 edge, I see no reason to ditch it for the Pixel.

I'd have to respectfully disagree. The S7 Edge camera is amazingly awesome, but the Pixel XL edges it out. Headphone quality on the Pixel XL is also substantially better than the S7 Edge, although I give the S7 the edge on speaker listening - but since both suck on that front, who cares?

My S7 edge's camera never had any lens flaring.
Other than the fact that all cameras have this issue to some extent while some are worse than others, you hate the pixel for other reasons and therefore the predefinito presumption of no discernible difference on that front would still stand. This is given that most photo samples do not have any noticeable issue of this sort.

Does wifi calling working with tmobile on pixel

I'm wondering the unlocked Pixel, does wifi calling work on tmobile?

Yes. WiFi calling, VoLTE, HD voice, Band 12, etc. all work on T-Mobile w/ the Pixel.

Anyone switch to a pixel from S7 edge?

Just wondering if anyone has gone to the Pixel XL from the edge? Is it more bland than the Edge with no always on?
