If you had a chance to get a Droid X and trade your Samgsung Fascinate in would you do it and why?

I am thinking of switching to the Fascinate but I am worried about the downgrading of internal memory from 8gb (droidx) to 2gb ( fascinate). Is this a hugh deal?

Thanks

I have the samsung galaxy s 4g which is the tmobile version of the facinate but with the front facing camera. I swithed because of the light slender weight. Remember you can put apps on a memory card so that will free up alot of memory. Its a great device. I use to have the verizon droid and like this so much more. :)

I don't know. I probably wouldnt. Even though it has better specs, plus Gingerbread is close to hitting the Droid X, and we're still stuck on 2.1. Lol. Well, there are very few of us that still are. Most of us are flashing froyo roms and saying "screw official froyo." So yeah, there's a lot of things about the fascinate that will get under your skin at first (Bing) and make you cry (Bing) and make you scream bloody murder (Bing). But that can all be changed if you're not afraid to root and do some awesome dirty work. All of it can be fixed (Google).
Plus, you have a lot of great people here in the fascinate forum who are more than happy to help you.

My roomate has a droid x that I play with from time to time. They're better as "business" phones, for all things media related (music, movies, pictures, etc) the fascinate spanks the droid x every time.

And even with only 2gb of internal memory, my phone is faster than his. So... you really should decide which you like more, but I wouldn't trade mine for his if he paid me.

The droid X is slightly bigger, and has the 8gb of internal memory, but I think that is where it stops in terms of "advantages" the DX has over the Fascinate. Hardware wise the Fascinate blows the DX away. I have a ton of apps on my phone and I still have .95 GB of space free. So there is still plenty of room left. The DX screen, even though slightly larger, does not even come close to comparing to the Fascinate screen. I just rooted one of my friend's DX and his wife's Droid 2 global last night. I even put Gingerbread on my friend's DX, and even after he saw the advantages he had over me with having Gingerbread, he couldn't stop commenting how jealous he was of me because of my screen and how bright and clear it was. But everyone has different needs, desires, and wants for their phone. So you should decide which phone best fits your needs and wants.

No , i already had both the DroidX and the fascinate. After using the fascinate the DX depressed me . The screen was so washed out and it was very laggy so i sold it. As far as internal storage. i calculated that i would need 700apps =to the largest size app i have to fill my internal storage. So to me thats plenty of storage

I never considered the Droid X because if its size. I want a light phone with a big screen. I'm tempted to pick up the 4g galaxy s 2 coming to Verizon this summer. I'm pretty happy with the Fascinate right now. I could keep this phone for awhile.

My wife was asked by verizon if she wanted the x because she has had 4 samsungs and she said no she loves this phone even if they keep going out on her.

I would love an hdmi out port though

i had the HDMI port thing, and i could not find it useful in the least. maybe someone else has use for it. I kind of felt it was a feature just to have to say you have it.

The screen on ANY phone is the most important piece of hardware. The better the screen, the better the phone.

Every single time you use your phone you be looking at ur screen. Jus my 2 cents
No flames pls this is just my opinion.

Just tried looking for a cents symbol on the kb..wow not there lol

Agreed. The DX is to big and heavy. The fascinate has perfect size screen, is very thin and light.

I could load movies on it, and when I'm traveling, plug it into the TV and watch a movie. Stuff like that, I wouldn't use it all the time or anything, but it would be nice to have every once in a while

When I upgraded back in December, I had a Blackberry Tour and I really really wanted a Droid X. So, when I went to Verizon, my mind heavily set on getting the DX, I was waiting to be seen by a representative when I bumped into a Fascinate on display. It was the first time I had ever seen the phone. I thought it was gorgeous. The DX was right along side it. I sat there for a good 20 minutes comparing the 2, and I was easily convinced that I wanted the Fascinate instead. While the DX has a nice large screen, I thought the Fascinate screen was way more vibrant, and just looked better. Plus it's significantly smaller than the DX. I'm very happy and satisfied with the phone, and with all of these awesome customs roms, themes, etc...it makes the phone that much better ;)

So, to answer the question...no, I wouldn't switch to the Droid X. Not unless I absolutely had to.

I had that dilemma when it was time for me to upgrade to a new phone. 3 phones to pick from: The Droid 2, Droid X and the Fascinate. Droid 2 was to bulky for me, the X was way to big and the screen didn't look that good. The Fascinate just felt right for me. Light as a feather, bright and beautiful screen, and enough storage for my tastes. Got the Fascinate and haven't looked back. I did have to return my original phone but only after I dropped it and the GPS stopped working, worked flawlessly before that.
Couldn't be happier. And I got it in white. :-)

I'll throw in on this one.

1. Internal memory is difficult to use up if you have 2 gigs. I don't even bother moving apps to the SD card (and yes I have froyo).

2. The droid X has a much less usable interface. Motoblur adds about 3 steps to anything you wanna do.

3. The screen on the fascinate is like a tactical grade flashlight vs. a candle on the droid X.

4. The droid X has a higher resolution camera, but it takes terrible shots pretty much constantly.

5. The fascinate still comes with a 16gb SDcard, and the X comes with a 2gb card now. WTF? Why would they do that.

If I didn't have the option of the fascinate I would love to have an X, but as it stands the thing just doesn't compare, and I handle X's all day at work. They're just not as good in 95% of the major areas of smart phone use. Oh, and Droid X's for some reason respond REALLY badly to task killers, but fascinates have minimal complications. It makes me think that the X's software is much less stable for some reason as odd as that sounds.

Until the Fascinate get's 2.2 you cannot store apps on the SD card only on the phone.

Why would you want to put apps on the SD card? As DroidXcon said in a post on the first page of this thread, you would have to put like 700 apps on your phone to use up the 2gb of internal memory. So there is plenty of memory to spare.

Gotta remember that this is a fascinate forum. I bet you'd get a total opposite picture in the DX forum
