I accidentally left my phone out in the rain while grilling. Actually forgot about it. When I did retrieve it. It was dead. So with some persuasion, it has come back to life and all appears to be well. However it was drenched. So my store had agreed to replace it before the One came back alive. Would YOU still turn in this for a refurbished One. Would water damage show up later as corrosion.?

If the decision was mine I would absolutely take the replacement offer and roll the dice knowing the one you have was left out in the rain, died then came back to my life. Good chance you may run into future issues. Return it and take the replacement :)!

You absolutely will ultimately have issues with this device - I don't care how it's performing now - it's just a matter of time. If you can bring it back and get a refurb you probably should cut your losses and do exactly that.

I'm in agreement with the other members here. I'd gladly take a refurb knowing the device I have now has been soaked in water.

I would say if the replacement is free of charge then take it. If you have to pay just wait until you have issues?

just be aware that it may be checked for water damage.

UNLESS they already know and have agreed to replace any way.

I agree. I wouldn't take the chance with it.

Now that you can, just make sure you back up everything you can from the phone before swapping it out. Personally, I'm a huge fan of Helium backup.

Does the HTC/dropbox backup do well when it comes to restoring all the files and settings? I know Google BU is useless.

What's the worst that could happen with a refurb....you get one that has water damage already? Even so, the factory has replaced damaged parts and certified it as good now......I would take a refurb in a heart beat if I knew mine had water damage.
