A week, that's generous. You can burn 2gb plan up watching a 2hr movie on Netflix . I've ran up 2x my normal monthly usage already this month w/ YT now streaming in 720p, alone. I've got another week on my billing cycle. I'll be over 20+gb before then. That tiered plans crap is such a blatant scam on consumers it's unbelievable they can get away with it. No wonder all they want to carry are 4g phones.

it depends on the month, some months i watch movies a lot on my phone and hit around 25-30gb. att throttles at 3gb and 5gb for 3g and 4glte phones, respectively. so i guess 5-6 days for lte on att, but i rounded to a week. ;)

Note that Apple according to their website considers HSPA+ to be 3G technology, and even though AT&T considers HSPA+ to be 4G technology, they will still throttle it to 3gb same as all other 3g devices.

You hit 25-30GB a month from your wireless signal?! I hit 12GB last month(5 was tethering) and I felt really guilty..

AT&T keeps getting all of their 3G/4G/LTE's mixed up. HSPA+ is 4G .. to AT&T. Remember that it only stands for 4th generation. So technically it is AT&T's 4th Generation communications. Although to the actual 4G standard, HSPA+ is NOT 4G.

Until the ITU caved into the American carriers, LTE and WiMax were not considered 4G.

4G was supposed to be 100Mbps to the handset, so LTE Advanced and WiMax+

At least, you know who to blame now if they start throttling everyone. Just tell em Dpham00 did it. lol

Technically, even if Verizon does throttling, or as they prefer to call it, "network optimization", then it would still be possible to get 100gb a month and still never feel the "network optimization" provided that you never use data at a place and time of network congestion. The caveat, of course, is that if you are in the top 5% and are always in an area and always use the device during network congestion, then theoretically, you could be throttled 100% of the time.

This of course, assumes that they carry the same network optimization currently used for 3G devices over to 4G devices.

The way I see it, considering 98% of people are using 2gb or less, whether I use 5gb or 500gb, I would still be in the top 5%. I do believe that that 98% figure was from ATT, but I suspect Verizon has a similar figure.

Optimizing Our Network. Our Network Optimization practices ensure that you can count on the reliable network you expect. To optimize our network, we manage data connection speeds for a small subset of customers ? the top 5% of data users with 3G devices on unlimited data plans ? and only in places and at times of 3G network congestion. This ensures that all customers have the best data experience possible.
Network Optimization

This is compared to AT&T which throttles 3G and 4G devices alike to 3gb a month regardless before throttling. LTE devices are allowed to use 5gb a month before throttling.

Which is going to be interesting, if Sprint can tread water long enough, they may become serious players in the carrier wars. Your absolutely right though, what we see as LTE right now is actually a test tube baby. The real fun isn't on the scene just, yet. Btw, I saw on another tech. site today, they compared 4g on VZW & At&T, in tests using the IP3. AT&T got the highest data speeds numberically but Verizon trounced them in the average speeds dept. Verizon is a bit more stable than AT&T, at the moment.

Maximum speeds look good on paper, but doesn't do much good in real life except for bragging rights.

Unfortunately, for me, that doesn't bode well if I consistently rack up my monthly gb usage on unlimited. My area of CLE is really congested. I can't get above 13mps down, my upload numbers are always deplorable.
This whole throtling issue is kind of interesting since AT&T lost that case in court last week to one of their customers.

No your wrong there are members on this board pulling down over 60mbps with Samsung skyrocket so get over yourself.

Sent from my Samsung Skyrocket

The Skyrocket is a good phone. My only gripe is that it has somewhat low resolution compared to other phones released at the time like the Rezound which as 240% the pixels of the Skyrocket. This might not be a big issue to some people but to me, it is a deal breaker. Of course, there's the Skyrocket HD, but that's not what we are talking about here.

Skyrocket HD didn't impress me in person, whereas, the Galaxy Note looks amazing. I hated to blink when I had in front of me. Wish it would've came to Verizon as the Journal, as rumored. I'd like to know who started that rumor so I could post the cordial handshake and the resulting backhanded pimp slap on Youtube for everyone to enjoy.
