Wow, that poor HTC Incredible 4G...

The S3 is going to be way too big for many people. I don't think the Incredible has anything to worry about. The S3 is a REALLY popular phone but in my opinion it's a techie phone first. Lots of people won't come close to using or even caring about all of its features. Just my opinion of course.

I'm sure they will also try to market the whole "Beats" audio thing as they did with the Rezound

i have a nexus and i'm getting the inc4g...the screen is the main reason...i HATE the pentile HD display, too many artifacts and image retention

I can see the argument of HTC getting the shafts but there are still people out there that still uses flip phone and is ready to upgrade to a fancy new phone. On one hand you have a S3 which might turn some people off because of the size and all these bells and whistles. On the other hand you have the DInc4G which is around the size of "that phone thingie that Apple makes" and Sense is user friendly for alot of people including me that doesn't know what a kernel is. It's a type of corn right? So DInc4G can work in favor of verizon for newer android users that doesn't want to be intimidated by the giant size of the S3

U mean it isn't a type of corn?

Totally agree with you there Bro, but you know what? There are quite a few people who don't know what any of those words mean. They will be pretty darn happy to have the Dinc4G. :) just my 2C.

Thank me if I helped.... You know I'll do it again :) Oh, and by the way, Sent from my HTC One X

crap battery and qHD screen. no thanks, I'd just keep my Thunderbolt

The screen will be better than the Galaxy s3 because its not pentile. Trust me, pentile does make a difference in visible resolution. Also the battery will be equivalent because its a smaller device with a smaller non-HD screen and a lower clocked processor. So neither of those points are very valid

I was just at a party and telling people about the Galaxy S3. Strangely enough, they'd heard of the phone (probably from the advertising) but they've never heard of Android. I felt like I stepped into a time warp.

I bet HTC has to be pissed about this. Yesterday Verizon announced the Incredible 4G to launch on the 5th and today they announce the Galaxy S3 to launch on the 10th with pre-orders shipping immediately. Wow talk about being treated like a b*tch....

What did HTC expect? Everyone knew the Galaxy 3 was gonna drop soon, anyway.

Have you ever actually owned an HTC device...especially on Verizon? Sense is a much bigger battery drain than you think. Every phone they've released on Verizon had piss poor battery life at best. Even my Rezound with the EXTENDED battery barely makes 10 hours WITHOUT barely using it. Unless you're tethered to wi-fi all day, HTC devices have never been known for battery performance.

Go into a Verizon store and pick up an HTC device and ask about battery life and after they stop laughing they'll walk you to something NON-HTC to answer your question.

You would think that with the lowest resolution it would be better, but no, it won't. The Inc4G essentially has the same battery in the Thunderbolt has and that was terrible (i know, I had one). If anything, the S4 processor and ICS will add a little extra life, but every time HTC gets new hardware they always make sure that sense gets "heavier" so battery life on their devices never actually grows. It just stays the same across all their products.

Even with that said, there are a lot of fans of Sense (in terms of looks and functionality) like myself that will like the non-gargantuan size of the Inc4G, but after having an Incredible, Thunderbolt and now Rezound, each of which with poor battery life and the fact that Sense just simply slows down the phone too much in terms of memory, I've had it with HTC and am looking forward to my S3 arriving next week.

Now, if HTC had essentially made an S3 in terms of hardware then I'd say Samsung has something to be worried about. Sense really does need 2GB of ram sadly. Their hardware is always top looking and good looking, especially the One X, but they'd need to have much more storage than the 16gb non-expandable they gave AT&T and then finally they'd need a better battery cause they are horrible at that.

If HTC took a One X, corrected those things above and then gave it to Verizon, Samsung would be worried. But, until then, there's a reason Samsung outsells HTC handily and also why the One series isn't selling as well as you'd think at AT&T (I work for AT&T).

Sorry to hear your HTC experiences were so horrible - why did you keep buying them - 3 HTC phones in 3 years - you must be a masochist. I have a Dinc 2, runs smooth, call quality is good, GPS is good, 3G is reliable (and not bad for CDMA 3G - 1.5 -2.0 Mbits). I would have pre-ordered the Dinc 4G (even though is over priced compared to the SG3) but it was not available before the drop dead date (Jun 28) so I pre-ordered the S3 to see if I could get used to the size. If not, I will return it and live with my Dinc 2 for another year or so and see what I can get in 4.0-4.3" range - I don't buy used so I will see if I can get an older (think Dinc4G) phone on fire sale full price or see what newer mid range might be available. BTW, most reviewers (including Phil) think that Sense is much lighter than in the past. 1700 Mamps, S4 with int. LTE, and 4.0" screen will give the Dinc 4G excellent battery life in a very nice phone (mid range).

Sense seems much lighter than the past--until you realize they made kernel changes to prioritize Sense, rather than actually debloat it.

For someones first smartphone, it's great. When I got my Fascinate, I though the size was PERFECT. But after using it for a year and sending probably 25,000 text messages on it, I'm sick of that baby screen.

So I'm posting from my original Droid Incredible. I have loved this phone right up to the very end. I was originally waiting to see what the 4G would look like. I really appreciate HTC Sense and the original Incredible was my first (and only) smartphone. We've been through a lot together and I was more than willing to upgrade to a newer model.

My entire world view changed when the Samsung Galaxy S III launched. I managed to get my hands on one at my local Best Buy and it was love at first sight. I thought it would be too big or wouldn't live up to all the hoopla. I told myself going in that I didn't need a phone just because everybody else had one (like the phone that shall remain nameless)

From the moment I saw it in person, touched it, and proceeded to fool around with it in the store (not joking for probably an hour with my local Best Buy's only floor model) I knew the Samsung Galaxy S III was the phone I needed (errrrrr wanted).

And you know what? I bet somebody out there is going to feel the exact same way about the HTC Incredible 4G. :-)

Well at Best Buy the DINC 4G is $99 so its a bit of a price difference there than at the VZW store

My big thing is this phone should have been a One X just with the DINC name. The fact that it came out and is basically a mini Rezound is pathetic.

Reports are the Inc 4g has great radio reception, so could have the last laugh if the Verizon version of the G3 does not.

Reports so far are only good if comparing 3g to 3g, or 4g to 4g (both devices ICS). A lot of wrong comparisons being posted and some correct ones. Initial trend though suggests about as weak as the Gnex, which mean if true, I would be in no hurry to get my preorder from Best Buy.

Living in what Verizon considers a fringe area even for 3g I'm very interested in hearing reports on signal strength.
I went thru 4 Gnex and finally had to switch it out due to signal issues. If the 3 is comparable to the Gnex in signal strength it won't be an option. Hoping to hear some good news about it.

I don't care what kind of phone you use, that's not how I judge someone's worth or intelligence. Sent using tapatalk 2.

CNET review was not exactly glowing. Basically they said it isn't bad, but you have better options.

Personally I'm still wary of getting a phone as large as the S3. If the Inc. LTE was available when I had to order the S3 to keep unlimited, I would have thought about getting it. If it was a slam dunk, I would have considered swapping my S3 for one. Looks like I didn't miss out on anything and will benefit more from the S3.
