Now i know what people were saying in threads about reading before rooting. smh.
Well i got the evo yesterday and used unrevoked3 to root it. im pretty sure everything was done correctly. I installed some root apps then rom manager. I didnt really know what it was but people were saying it was one of the best root apps so i download the free version. i then went to download roms then it said i had to DL a package(idk remember exactly but there were things like Fresh nd other stuff) I googled some names nd cyanogen seemed to be good so i installed it. After it installed it shut my fone off nd restarted. THe 4g evo thing popped up then cyanogen mod screeen popped up...for about 8 hours! Smh so today i took out the battery and put it back in and held power and vol down. I eventually got to backup n restore and did both. After the restore, it loaded up (thank god) but with everything different(i guess thats what it does) SInce it was restored i need some of the apps like market back smh i cant find it and how do u get the premium version of rom manager for free? and what are the best rooted apps that can be aquired for free. And/post a link about cyanogen please lol i know its alot Thanks!

Firt off, search is your friend. Remember that always. You can get ROM Manager for free if you pay for it. Lol. Everyone else has to pay for it so you will too. The best root apps to get for free depends on what you want to do with your phone while rooted.

Oh and your going to need the gaaps zip to get all the google stuff back. I don't have a link but I am sure if you search you can find it.

1. You don't get the premium version of ANYTHING for free here. In fact, you don't even discuss it :)

2. Go back to ROM Manager, and select to install CM again. Make sure to choose to install the google apps. AND MAKE SURE YOU CHOOSE TO WIPE ALL DATA. It will reboot to clockwork recovery, wipe everything, and flash it all again and you'll be set.

lol sorry guys i've been using an itouch for a year so im used to gettin the free jailbroken apps lol i've been stuck wit a rant for 2years -__- so im new to this haha

You might also want to look into Titanium backup. I use it a lot, though there are other options that do similar or same things.

Omg! Now my evo wont turn on after installing the gapps. My phone rebooted but now its frozen where it says htc evo 4g. What do i do?

I had issues installing CM too before I did a device wipe then reinstall. Try that, and you should have backed up your stock rom with rom manager before trying any other roms.

gaaps help!

so, I used unrevoked to root my phone yesterday..

I copied my apps over from my previous install, i.e. market place and gmail.apk

After doing so, the to google apps still wont work, so I found a gaaps download, and tried to install it, by selecting install.zip from SD card in the recovery mode.

When I do that, the phone just gets stuck at the boot screen, so I revert to my backup to get the phone working again, but im left with no gaaps stuff.

I need access to the market, and gmail, and google sync/voice.

So, what do I do to get my google apps working!?

first off i thought rom manager didnt let you download roms w/o the paid version(maybe I remember wrong)

Anywho try and download another rom... Try Myns RLS5 - Once you have that up and working go from there to whatever you want to do i.e. reflash cyanogen

from the looks of this thread it seems like you managed to skip steps here and there.. go here: EVO Basics Wiki

start with "How to switch from ClockWorkMod to Amon RA (not required)"

if you have a nandroid and are ready to flash, go straight to here:
"How to flash ROM's in Amon RA"
-be sure to do the wipes, it sounds like you didn't

when you're selecting a ROM, be sure to read the entire post and the entire 2-5 following posts so you understand everything you need to do.. CM requires you to flash GAPPS (google apps), it's not embedded in the ROM zip, that's why you had no market or anything else google for that matter
