If this were to happen, do you think this could cause Samsung to lower the pricing on their folds? Samsung usually likes to be lower price the apple.

If I had to guess - and I do have to guess - this is in reference to the possible development of a folding iPhone.
There will be a folding iPhone, I have no doubt about that. The folding phone concept will probably take off once apple releases it. The smart watch was slow to take off also untill apple released one, then the smartwatch concept exploded.

Just would be nice if apple did lower the folding price, Samsung would probably lower to beat their price. Google was suppose to be the ones to to drop the price on folds.

If the folding iPhone sells for $1,999 for 512 GB version.

I just noticed the picture didn't upload for some reason even though it said complete. That explains the confusion
I see
For your question no I don't think they will because they offer discounts with trade ins and they think they own the Foldable market and now with the thinest Fold on the market
Maybe in the future when there is a stiffer competition and much reduced price., to me if other Foldable are in 1800.00-1900.00 range and Samsung is 2200 they won't drop it.

First it will probably instruct people to walk into rivers and into open man-hole covers before unfolding, people will probably listen.

Jokes aside, this will start a price-wae first, likely up, not down. The. The price might come down a bit.

My hope is this will create competition to innovative on less fragile inner screens. Also the race towards tri-folds. Right now a video is only a tiny bit and I mean tiny, bigger on Folds than a Ultra. I know productivity is a big part but not applicable to me so it won't mean much for me personally until then.

I'll be curious at what Samsung can do in future folds, I think this about the thinnest you would want to go, and screen size really is at optimal size. I'm guessing the tri-fold is Samsung's next big foldable. Maybe the fold we have now will be equivalent to the S series plus model and the tri-fold would be the equivalent to the S series ultra. I myself am not interested in the tri-fold.

I'm still going to hope for price reductions when more competition comes. I just don't see Samsung being higher priced then apple myself. You do have a point on the trade in discounts on Samsung though.

I don't see them lowering the price I think they are comfortable where they are , look how they took the SPen away as long as they sell is the key point.

This is the thinnest they are going to get so either move camera bump around, shortened it or little wider maybe better battery tech to fit bigger battery there isn't much I see they can do but keep optimizing software and what they have .

As for tri-fold at this point no interest, maybe scroll in and out from the sides fold be interesting but even that .

Competition will always determine how each company offers to consumers. I doubt Apple will ever beat Samsung in the trade process. They never have, and I doubt if they ever will.

Apple still tries to make people believe that their products are tailored towards a rich folks mentality, as still is today. I have such an acquaintance who thinks this way.

Right, apple releases something when they perfect it.

Interestingly, I spoke to a guy at a T-Mobile store last week and asked him how sales of foldable devices are going. He said that few customers buy them because of concerns about a lack of durability. Granted, that's only one carrier store, but it appears to me that the demand for foldable devices is much higher amongst users of this forum who are tech enthusiasts than amongst the general public.

I think the sales at stores like T-Mobile and even Verizon are lower for sure I know that some with the trade-in values attract people especially I know a lot of people that are using the flip phone for convenience and I have a lot of non-tech people loving the flip then switching to it but overall I think the price more than anything is what holds people back.

I also want to add I'm very curious to see how many people are going to spend that high money on the new Apple foldable. I'm usually one to jump in as you all know but if the price is going up high with no incentives on trade-ins I don't know LOL. That said I would love to have an Apple device foldable as I'm just getting bored with the regular iPhones

I just find it absurd that we're talking about $2K phones of any kind. Absolutely not worth it for any feature.

Cheaper? Maybe for a little bit, but once the Apple fans get a hold of them, both Apple and Samsung will jack up prices to counter demand.

And this is Apple...the same company that charged $1000 for the Mac display stand.
