That's why they do it. I will pay it, or buy outright, or pay it, then complain and have it reversed.
Of course when its time to renew, I'll try hard to have the fee waived.

Good luck trying.

The "if you don't like it, go somewhere else" advice is the best advice in this thread.
Obviously, you don't like it either.Of course when its time to renew, I'll try hard to have the fee waived.
When I first started this thread, I was pissed, but after a few days kinda mellowed out. I spent $80 the other night on a dinner with a friend. So $30? Ahh I can live with that.
The reason the $30 bothers me is because if I spend $80 to eat I don't also have to sign a contract to eat there and nowhere else for the next two years.

Yeah but you also aren't getting a discount on that $80 meal, you are getting a discount on a $650+ phone though.
Yep and that's why I'm signing a two year contract, because of the discount.
Raise the price of the phone, raise my bill with some lie about an additional tax or do away with discounted phones all together, but don't insult me by charging me extra to sign away the next two years of my life to you.

They are raising the price of the phone, effectively. This type of fee is neither new or unique. All the hand-wringing and whining is a waste of energy.
Left Verizon two years ago after six years of BS, best move I ever made!

That's a bunch of bunk. Standing up and complaining about something you don't Agree with is in no way a waste of energy.
You don't have to agree with why I disagree that's your right just as disagreeing is mine.
To say it's a waste of energy is totally untrue. Perhaps the complaining will not help in this case, but It stopped a monthly fee for Bill pay, it stopped a $5 Fee by banks and it has changed many things thru history.
Change will never be achieved thru agreeing with everything thrown at us.

Spoken like a true Verizon rep. Of course they don't want complaints they may have to address them ...I always speak up when I feel I've needed to.

It is a waste of energy plain and simple. We should be happy that Verizon has held off on instituting such a fee for as long as they have. Your other examples also have no bearing whatsoever on this situation.

Don't work for Verizon. I do work in retail, and it gets tiring listening to idiots that don't understand that I don't care what their complaints are because I can't do anything about the policies they have issues with. It is what it is. Accept it, move on, and leave your Verizon CSRs alone. They have enough to do without listening to people whining about a fee that isn't going anywhere.
