WTH is Verizon up to?

That's why they do it. I will pay it, or buy outright, or pay it, then complain and have it reversed.

Of course when its time to renew, I'll try hard to have the fee waived.

When I first started this thread, I was pissed, but after a few days kinda mellowed out. I spent $80 the other night on a dinner with a friend. So $30? Ahh I can live with that.

Gotta admit lte is the bomb on vz and their footprint is so huge. They got the best network. Atts 4g footprint is so small as soon as you leave a 4g area its toast. Don't even mention t- mo and sprint.

Left Verizon two years ago after six years of BS, best move I ever made!

The reason the $30 bothers me is because if I spend $80 to eat I don't also have to sign a contract to eat there and nowhere else for the next two years.

Yeah but you also aren't getting a discount on that $80 meal, you are getting a discount on a $650+ phone though.

Yep and that's why I'm signing a two year contract, because of the discount.

Raise the price of the phone, raise my bill with some lie about an additional tax or do away with discounted phones all together, but don't insult me by charging me extra to sign away the next two years of my life to you.

They are raising the price of the phone, effectively. This type of fee is neither new or unique. All the hand-wringing and whining is a waste of energy.

Yeah other carriers have been doing this for awhile, it's nothing new.

It's kind of funny, I felt much the same way after leaving AT&T after being with them for 8 years. I have had Sprint, T-Mobile, and AT&T. Of all the carriers for me VZW has been the best.

That's a bunch of bunk. Standing up and complaining about something you don't Agree with is in no way a waste of energy.

You don't have to agree with why I disagree that's your right just as disagreeing is mine.

To say it's a waste of energy is totally untrue. Perhaps the complaining will not help in this case, but It stopped a monthly fee for Bill pay, it stopped a $5 Fee by banks and it has changed many things thru history.

Change will never be achieved thru agreeing with everything thrown at us.

It is a waste of energy plain and simple. We should be happy that Verizon has held off on instituting such a fee for as long as they have. Your other examples also have no bearing whatsoever on this situation.

Spoken like a true Verizon rep. Of course they don't want complaints they may have to address them ...I always speak up when I feel I've needed to.

Kind of what I was thinking. I always have to wonder how many peeps here work for Verizon or have relatives that do.

The great and powerful Verizon has spoken, pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

Obviously, you don't like it either.

I don't like the new fee, but its their new policy. We've both kept up our parts of our business agreement: they've provided me with great cell service, I've continued to pay my bill on time.

I don't owe them anything more. They don't owe me anything more.

When it's time for me to renew and upgrade, Verizon will probably still be the best carrier for my needs. I will of course mention to the rep that I've been a customer since the Sony Zuma was a new phone. I'll ask the rep if there's anything they could do to waive the new upgrade fee. If they can't, no biggie. I asked.

I wouldn't call it a complete waste of energy though. I will say that it's kind of pointless to complain about it when you're not due for an upgrade yet.

Don't work for Verizon. I do work in retail, and it gets tiring listening to idiots that don't understand that I don't care what their complaints are because I can't do anything about the policies they have issues with. It is what it is. Accept it, move on, and leave your Verizon CSRs alone. They have enough to do without listening to people whining about a fee that isn't going anywhere.

That's your job that you chose to do. Doesn't matter if they come into an electronics store and ask for frogs. For you to tell people to not complain about the fee yet you complain about helping customers which is your job is just outright funny to me. If you don't like answering questions or helping people whether you like the question or not is kinda odd. Maybe a career change is in order.
