Yeah... I think we're really concentrating on more each manufacturers flagship lines and pretty much the current series :-\

And there are more Android phones in the world over iOS. Yes, I know Samsung has a ton of models and outsells by volume. iPhone only just recently sold it's one billionth phone.

The original post isn't fair since it's not a single iPhone model's sales numbers, but your comparison isn't fair either as Samsung has a ton more models out there for sale. Yes, by no means a minor feat for BOTH companies (we know their products will sell and sell well), but still not an -apples to apples- comparison (no pun intended).

I don't get how sales really have anything to do with the topic at hand -- just my opinion. I have never said "Man that company is selling a lot so I am going to buy that instead of what I like!".

Just my $0.02

What's the topic?

Apparently how XDA doesn't like the performance of the Note 7.

Oh yeah, we talked about that. IF they are correct and performance sucks, and blogs are ignoring that - then they're right and that shouldn't be ignored. I don't know if they're right or not.

Anandtech was also not happy with the performance, and MrMobile aso mentioned that he was worried about it.

So far from real-world use (a.k.a day to day) my Note 7 has been fine. I haven't put it next to my gf's iPhone 6S Plus yet though to see if she can launch Angry Birds faster though -- I don't see a point in that one. I will say that compared to the AT&T Note 5 I was using this thing blows it away. That thing would stutter and freeze for a second especially when opening hangouts.

On coming from oneplus one and up to now it's still smooth as the day i first got it, but camera is terrible. Moving to n7, i know what I'm losing, a smooth OS. It may not be the smoothest OS but it has the best camera tho

Anand is useful for two things: 1. Their charts, ultimately the result of their tests 2. Their lack of fluff. I barely even read their reviews except the parts that are factual statements about components and testing. Who cares what a reviewer's opinion is? I'm there for the information.

This is what drives me crazy. Of course the Note 7 is faster than the Note 5. I bet the Note 8 will be faster than the Note 7. My problem is why isn't the Note 5 good enough anymore? It's because most people have a problem with lag and battery life over time. That isn't a good thing. Of course the Note 7 is a rocket now. Let me know how it is in 6 months to a year.

Translated: however we can stack the numbers to make apple come out on top, that's what we're looking at.

Almost everyone I know of who still is using a Note 5 still praises its performance. So yeah, you're a little bit off there.

I brought sales into it because somebody basically said anyone is an I.diot to buy a Samsung Flagship. So I mentioned that this means there are an awful lot of idiots versus this one enlightened individual.

When comparing Note sales as the presumed best selling phone of a year, it's important to isolate flagships vs non flagship sales and then it becomes important to recognize that the Apple flagships seem to have a slight edge on the Samsung flagships. It's not a matter of stacking anything, it's recognizing that it is nearly impossible, from the math, for the Note 7 to be the best selling flagship of 2016, let alone the best selling phone.

What did XDA have to say about the Note 5? I remember a lot of reviews focusing on how much it sucked to not be a refresh of the Note 4 and many other reviews raving about how awesome it was. Anyone remember where XDA landed?

Again, you've lost sight of the original Point. Somebody made a statement that only ignorant Fanboys still buy Samsung devices. No matter how you look at the numbers, there are clearly quite a few of these devices being sold versus this one person who doesn't like them. So the point is still that he's asking us to believe that all these millions of people are wrong and he is right.

I agree that a whole lot of people are buying Samsung phones. The reason I disagreed with the post is because it was based on two false premises, one at the time and a subsequent post backing up the original based on anecdotal assumption. So two points: 1. Samsung sells a lot of phones. True. 2. Note 7 will be best selling phone of 2016. False. 2 can't back up 1 because it's false.

That said, people should buy whatever the heck they want. Wanting something different than other people doesn't make you an *****. What would make someone an ***** is wanting one thing, then getting something else and being uphappy with the something else.
