I received my Spectre screen protector today and installed it immediately. Following the instructions to clean the phone glass face well I used a micro-cloth dampened with eye glass lens cleaner and polished with the micro cloth supplied with the Spectre. Then removed the back cover and carefully aligned the protector to the top speaker and camera openings (very good bright light helps here if you have the pebble blue as I do). held the aligned top edge and let the protector drop to the surface of the phone face. Made sure the home button was aligned (it was off a bit, so I lifted the protector with a scalpel blade tip) repositioned the bottom and then pressed the screen protector into place. PERFECT! Not a single bubble! I thought I had one bubble but it was actually between the top surface of the screen and the top cover sheet. When the top cover sheet was removed I could not tell I had a screen protector on. My version has beveled edges to prevent edge chipping and getting lifted off the phone.

The pros previously listed in this thread are what I found also. The issue of the home button is not an issue to me. The screen protector has a 0.4 mm thickness but not enough to make using the home button an issue for me.

I don't feel any gap between the screen protector and the face of the phone. And find the sensitivity to be very close to the naked phone face.

The Spectre screen protector works well with my slim line Rearth S3 phone case without either one interfering with the other. They fit flush to one another so there is no gap line for dirt to get caught in, very nice combo.

This is definitely my favorite screen protector of the half dozen I have tried on the S3.

If you have the chance would you mind posting some pics? In the prototype samples it was reported that there was a grid like ghosting pattern in the protector. Have you noticed anything similar in you production model? I really like the idea of this screen protector. I also wonder how well it will resist scratches. Thank you for the installation review. Please keep us updated with your impressions as ut gets some use.

I used one on my S2. Got it from Mobile Fun, UK, I think. Branded something besides Spectre. Paid about US $40 for it?? Loved it. Easy to apply and then, didn't know the screen wasn't naked. Never managed to scratch it or the real screen beneath it. So I guess that means it protected my S2 screen.

Now that I know how to find one for the S3, I'm a happy phoner.

You can find it at xgearlive.com and when I purchased it a week ago I got a $5 discount so with USPS priority it cost a bit under $31.00 USD.delivered to my door.

Under just the right strong overhead light at just the right angle I do see a grid of tiny bright dots. But I don't see it the vast majority of the time and when I do it is not so distinctive that I notice it while actually using the phone as opposed to looking for it. And you can't see it on the whole screen at once because the angle of sight must be just right.

I will try and upload a couple of shots of the mounted screen on Monday the 13th. The packaging is also quite impressive and certainly guarantees that the screen will come undamaged to your door.

Thanks. Let us know how you like it.

Different in quality of screen? What about smoothness?

If you have a case with a raised edge so when you turn it over the screen doesn't touch the table will it now touch the table?

Here are a few photos of the SIII with the Spectre tempered glass screen installed. Forgive the dust. I just took the phone out of my shirt pocket and shot the pictures. Didn't think to "clean up" the phone for company ;)

The surface is as smooth as the nude phone screen. Smooth as "glass" :p No drag or tactile feel when swiping across the screen. Sensitivity for all practical purposes the same as the nude screen.

The surface of the Spectre screen with my Rearth slim case is almost flush with the top edge of the case. I would say placing it on its face would likely bring the screen surface into contact with the resting surface depending on the type of surface on the resting area. I have not had a problem with this. I do put my phone face down when I want it to be muted using the motion feature of the SIII. But normally I place it face up so it is not muted and I get to hear and see my notifications.

DOTS!

Holy poop the dots... yes they're visible when the screen is off and that's no big deal. But when the screen is on it's like a hundred little prisms on the screen. It looks like a fairy pooped all over my phone.

My experience has been different. When the screen is off I seldom can see the grid spots even when specifically looking for them. When the screen is on if I really look instead of using the phone I can see a few tiny dots of light from certain portions of the screen which shifts as the angle of the screen to my eyes moves. When I am actually using the screen for interacting with an app I see the same few tiny lights but not enough to distract me from what I am doing.

I too would love to have Xgear find a better anti-glare screen layer so the grid was eliminated. But the current product is serviceable to me and provides a tempered glass screen protector which to me is better than any polymeric material. Just my personal opinion here.

Even more importantly to me is for Xgear to provide a means of feedback and review of their products on their website.

Curious as to why I wasn't seeing the grid more prominently I went out in bright direct sunlight and found that if I am vertical and the phone is horizontal I can see the grid across the whole screen quite prominently. Since I never use a phone in this orientation I never realized how bright the grid line intersections can be.

It is definitely something Xgear needs to address.

The dots are unbearable for me. I've contacted Xgear and waiting for a response. On white or bright backrounds it's terrible. Hundreds of little sparkles. If this is a common problem I hope they will exchange or refund. I'm a little upset because I took my wet protector off to install this, so now I'm going to have to get another one.

I understand what you are saying. If you use your phone in a horizontal orientation you can see the grid and spots. I never use my phone in that position, but instead in a almost vertical position and didn't even notice the few spots and never see the grid.

It is definitely something to think about if you are thinking of purchasing this screen protector if you tend to use your phone on a table top for example.

got my glass protector today,
fits well etc,
major cons - the proximity sensor doesn't work, when I receive calls and answer it, when the screen goes off (next to face) , when i move it away from my face, the screen doesn't turn on!
i cannot turn on the screen! not until the caller cancels the call. this is a major disappointment.
I will be contacting xgear regarding the issue
will keep you all updated.
BTW does any one have the same issue ?

I have not found this issue since installing the Spectre glass screen protector. However, I have found before and after installation that if I don't move the phone decisively to and from my ear that the sensor doesn't always turn off the screen. It doesn't happen very often but it does happen.

Installed my Xgear Spectre on my Samsung S3 went on with no problem, put the phone back into my Ballistic case, fit's fine then I turned it on and I see a screen fill of tiny dot's!! they sparkle and are very distracting to me. Messaged Xgear that I need to return it for a refund. They messaged back, says there is a 20% restocking fee plus they don't return what there shipping cost was. I see they don't show feedback on there website, too bad because if I would of know about the grid of dot's on the screen I would of never would of bought it..

I need some clarification. I don't have this screen protector yet. But whatever I'm using shows the grid of dots, but *only* if the background is dark. I find the grid helpful when, e.g. placing icons on Apex Launcher's dock.

Are we talking about the same phenomenon?

Sfrrr

I have one too. Love the feel. I can live with the dots. But after 10 days I was getting dust building up underneath the Spectre! Had to take it off.

Waiting for the SPG Curved Crystal now.

I had this screen protector on before the Spectre. I would highly recommend you follow the install instruction on the YouTube video they reference and do the install in an area with no air movement and little dust.

That is disappointing to hear. I would not be pleased to find out that an issue they didn't advise about before purchase now costs 20% to correct by return of merchandise.

I also had problems with the proximity sensor. I received mine last week with the Curved Crystal and decided to try this one on first because it was glass. The dots drive me crazy but I already knew about this before I purchased so... just didn't know it was this bad. However, like someone mentioned, I've been having problems with the proximity sensor so I wrote to them and they sent me a revised version. After receiving it, I see that they blacked out the sensor part... or at least they tried to because i'm still having issues with it. My phone gets really hot when I'm on the phone because the screen won't turn off... or sometimes the screen just stays dark. Am going to return and see if they'll give me a full refund since this seems to be a defective product. :(

I have this exact same problem...however you posted in august, were you able to troubleshoot the problem as of yet...?
