Android Central Question

I bought the Mi Mix 3, and today I went into recovery and selected wipe data. I rebooted my phone and it says this device is locked, it is associated with an existing mi account. I press activate this device, and I enter my password, Then I verify my phone number. So far everything is going well. I select my region and language, and connect to wifi. It then says checking for updates and then shows copy apps and data. I press next and choose backup from the cloud. But then it says confirm your password and I have no idea what it means. It is telling me to enter a pin, but my last password was a password, and I have no idea what it means. Please help me because I cannot access my phone and I am super desperate. Any help I can get will be appreciated.

It's presumably asking for the password for the account associated with the phone. If so, you will be able to go no further without that password, and you have a phone that ought not to have been offered for sale.

It sounds to me like the initial setup passed, and it's asking for a password/pin for the cloud backup to be restored. The phone was secured with Xaomi's own verification, and I guess the cloud backup was through another service like Google.

To the OP, check the backup service you're using for any sort of password recovery option. If it doesn't have one and you don't remember the login info, then I'm afraid you'll have to start from scratch.
