Xoom Update!

Every time you power on the Xoom, it checks for updates.

I was about to post that. Beat me to it. I am not sure why I am so anxious for the update. It is not really giving us much. The big change will be Flash on the 18th.

If your didn't get it yet, chill. We aren't missing anything by not having this update. We will all get it. No Flash until the 18th anyways.

There's various issues in the calendar related to DST in 3.0 I really want to see fixed. If I use "Automatic time zone" in settings (the default), a bunch of my appointments show up incorrectly after this weekend. I can disable that option to fix the display of those appointments, but then various other appointments show up wrong.

I've yet to get the update...powered off and on. On wifi. Not sure how to tell what firmware I've got though.

I purposely restarted my Xoom last night, but the Status page still showed the last update was 10 hours earlier. If it checks each time you power it up, it's apparently not consistent in sharing the updated time with us via the status screen...

you can force it to check for update by changing the date
Thanks... but I'll just leave the date and wait for the upgrade.

I got mine last night like an hour after the news hit the web. Funnily enough, my XOOM restarted itself because it had frozen while watching a YouTube vid, then BAM, update. Verison 3.0.1, non rooted.

How often does the system check for updates? I've rebooted and the time doesn't change. I'm back to stock and locked with Moto's source files.

I'm always giddy for updates even when there's nothing you'll really notice hehe.

See my earlier post upstream in this thread... the system seems to check approximately every 12 hours.

Others have said you can change the date and that forces a check for new updates, and others have said that powering the Xoom on forces a check for new updates. I have no desire to change the date, but have tested the power-off/power-on scenario and see no indication the system is checking for updates.

got that, but looking for the patch to see if we can figure a manual patching solution that might be clockwork flashable after a lil work :)

edit: oh, never mind. I totally mis-understood you twice in a row :)

How do I find where it came from? - I guess I can bring it down to stock, wait for it and check my connections, or is there an easier way?

OK. I just got my update. But I can't tell if the download location's just obfuscated, or if I missed it. :-/

So it WAS Trygon

I'll go back and just get alogcat going, hopefully I catch it.. I'm at work so can't check connections in my router but hopefully I can find it. (hopefully I get the update fast again!)

I have 2 xooms here - no update so far that I can see. How would you know if you have been updated?

Just got the prompt to do the update. Took about 3-5 minutes... piece of cake. The message also said Flash will be available on March 18th in the Android Market. Cool!!

That's new to me. What is it? (I mean, I know what it is, but what is it? :p)

There were just some "names" for the Xoom being thrown around early on, I guess from the looks of your post it was indeed code named the Trygon.

Which I have to say, is pretty cool :)

It will prompt you to install now or later.

Does anyone know if this update does anything besides flash support? Honeycomb and the Xoom are a bit glitchy at times so I was wondering if this patches anything else also. That would be nice.
