Xperia Z1 Compact: Arrived today! Ask me anything

Re: Arrived today! Ask me anything

I got one on Feb 14th, I still can't get used to it. It is a bit slow when using apps eg:Facebook, takes ages to load newsfeed. Also my Snapchat app, the camera has stopped working in it, i just get a black screen now. Anyone else had these problems?

MWC has come and gone. I wasn't blown away by the s5 SP I ordered Z1 compact from clove. Can't wait to get it.

Wife will get the Nexus 5 to replace her iPhone 5S.

How long does it take to get a shipment in the states from clove? I'm in NYC.

I just sent an email back to clove with a picture of my driver's license as per their security protocol for new customers.

Thanks!

Been using mine for a couple of days. BEST battery life I have ever experienced on any device. Really enjoying it.

One issue though. Anyone notice that when taking the phone away from.your fave after a phone call it takes a few seconds for the screen to come on? Not a major issue, just wanted to see if I was alone.

Amazing similarity! I also waited to see what was announced at MWC and decided last night to order the Z1C from Clove, with free DK32 Charger. Hoping for arrival Thursday. (And I got a Play Store red 32GB N5 for my wife.)

My order, and the subsequent DL copy, went in Monday night. But then, this morning, Clove asked for my credit card authorization to further prove I am the legitimate card holder. Bank of America refused to give me the authorization, so I had to go through a fire drill to resolve the problem. Finally, I just called Clove and they approved the order.

I paid the extra ?2 for expedited DHL that is purported to be 1-3 day service. On the phone, they told me it would go today so I am expecting it in 2 days.

Mine took three days. I paid the little bit extra for the quicker shipping option. Great phone

Same issue with Boa. Same shipping upgrade and I got it the second day. Couldn't wait and picked it up from the airport where it arrived

Thanks for the info about ordering from clove. I forgot to do the dock promo when I ordered. I emailed them asking if they can add the dock into my order. I'm very psyched to get this phone!

Again, same boat. Because of problems with BoA, it took me three tries to get the initial credit card approval (not even counting the issues with my DL and the "authorisation code"); so on my first and second orders, I included the dock freebie. But I forgot it the third time, so I emailed Clove and they added it.

I ordered on Monday night. Went through the security rigamarole yesterday (sent Clove the drivers license picture and transaction authorization code). Emailed them last night about adding the DK32 dock. Got confirmation emails today that they'd be adding the dock to my order and that my order has shipped. Pretty great service so far. $590 US for the phone and charging dock. Not too shabby.

Hopefully, the phone gets here on Friday or so!

I'm in the States and my Z1C arrived yesterday. I'll give a full report when I get it going. For now, I am stymied by the stupidest problem imaginable. I've searched for tutorials or videos, but nothing. So, here goes:

I cannot figure out how to put the micro-SIM into the slot!!!!

Instructions:
1 Remove the cover of the micro SIM card slot.
2 Pull out the micro SIM card holder.
3 Remove the micro SIM card.
4 Insert the micro SIM card holder back into its slot.
5 Re-attach the micro SIM card slot cover

Seems simple enough, but I am totally flumoxed. Does the flexible tray come all the way out? It seems like it will break if I pull any harder.

Can't even say for certain which way is up. The picture shows it a certain way, but it's visually ambiguous. Is it "up" when the front of the phone is up and the micro-SIM slot is to the left, bottom? I think that's right, but one picture shows it opposite. The teeny fingernail tab curls, but I don't know if that is intentional or just random - if intentional, does the SIM go on the side of the curl up or down?

With the flexible tray out, I don't see or feel any space that will allow the tray+SIM to slide back in.

Just to be sure about my SIM, I bought this particularly for the Z1C, so I bought what is described as a "micro SIM". It is 13mm wide by 15mm long.

Thanks for any guidance. I'm sure this is stupidly simple for anybody who has done it.

I had a pretty good experience with Clove: ordered late Monday night and phone was in my hands Friday evening. Their credit card security measures were over the top and contributed to a day's delay. I had to call them to convince them I was legit. My advice to anyone who orders from them is to do it during the (their) day and be ready for several emails and phone calls. They wanted information from my credit card issuing bank that the bank would not divulge, hence the need for a phone call to the U.K.

Another word to the wise: Clove's currency calculator from Pound Stelling to USD was off by about 12%, so my actual price was $70 more than their web site estimated.

Great service from DHL! Despite delays from Clove (order processing and slow to give it to DHL), DHL was super fast. And I didn't have the foresight to give them instructions to leave the package w/o signature, so I came home to find a notice on my door that it would be delivered on Monday. AGHHH! But I called DHL to see about airport pickup and they graciously offered to redeliver that night. As I said, above and beyond service.

I spent Saturday rooting and configuring, which is an ordeal with Sony phones, but the threads on XDA worked after some sweating it out. All-in-all, it looks like a winner. Next up, an Xperia Z2 Tablet, probably from Clove when it's available for pre-order.

Holding the phone upside down, you should be able to catch it with your finger nail. If not, tweezers will work. Not the best design, thats for sure.

YES but to make it appear quicker you gotta tilt it away from you. And answers with the speaker on and screen turns on while I talk. I don't mind it though love the phone. 10/5

my ps3 won't recognise the phone and the phone won't.recognise the ps3 for wired connection? and any remote play guide?

Has anyone purchased this device on eBay yet? I think these phones are from Singapore but I'm not sure if it makes a difference. The price looks good and the reviews on the eBay-er are positive...
