So, I'm ready to upgrade my phone and I'm looking between the XPRT and the Admiral. Right now I'm leaning to the Admiral just because it's slightly newer and has better resolution.

Sway me!

I've been wrestling with the same decision. There's a nice comparison between the two here. I like the higher res display, the faster CPU, the 720p video and the mil-spec toughness of the Admiral BUT there's a huge difference in standby time. While the Admiral and XPRT use the same battery and claim 9 hours of talk time the Admiral only gets about 1/5th the standby time of the XPRT (79 hours vs. 380). With actual use that means daily recharging.

I thought it might have something to do with the Admiral's Direct Connect feature but users report the need for daily recharging even with DC disabled. To make matters worse the Blackberry Bold 9930 uses the same 1.2 GHz Qualcomm MSM8655 as the Admiral but gets 307 hours of standby! It really makes me wonder what Motorola did to that poor phone.

The Admiral is a step up from the XPRT in most respects, but it you're a road warrior - extended business trips lasting several days in multiple cities - you may be better off with the XPRT.

I own a Droid Xprt and with the lack of Gingerbread 2.3.x which I feel doubtful I'll ever see it on this phone. Sprint Moto just cant get the Nascar app just right I suppose.

I want to go Admiral, but after reading about your lack of battery time makes me leery of it.

I love the battery time of my Droid Xprt I can usually get a day and half out of my battery. Even with my 2 hogs on... the GPS is turned on for that Sprint Total Security Protection, and the active wallpaper too.

yep that is some good info. Luckily I havent run into any issues withe the Xprt in regards to app incompatibility issues. The only issue I have is that no one will confirm if they have loaded the xprt with gingerbread yet. With the reduced size of the screen makes me leery of why it hasnt been upgraded yet.
